In Nevada we itemized by make, model and caliber of specific semi-autos. It use to be that it was itemized by make, model and caliber of all firearms. If you have qualified with revolvers, you can carry one or two round derringers as well. Keep in mind that NRS 202.3653 includes only one or two round derringers, there are some three and four round derringers out there. Those are not included by statute.

There should be a bill in the next legislative session to remove the specific semi-auto requirement. It will then just be any semi-auto and any revolver which is the way it is for LEOSA in Nevada.

If you have a Nevada CFP that was issued before the change to "any revolver" in the 2007 legislative session and you have a revolver on it, you are authorized to carry any revolver or any one or two round derringer as you've qualified with a revolver.

I believed you can have more rounds than 2 rounds in your revolver. I carry revolver 6 rounds, no problem.

NRS 202.3653 Definitions. As used in NRS 202.3653 to 202.369, inclusive, unless the context otherwise requires:

1. “Concealed firearm” means a loaded or unloaded pistol, revolver or other firearm which is carried upon a person in such a manner as not to be discernible by ordinary observation.

2. “Department” means the Department of Public Safety.

3. “Permit” means a permit to carry a concealed firearm issued pursuant to the provisions of NRS 202.3653 to 202.369, inclusive.

4. “Revolver” means a firearm that has a revolving cylinder with several chambers, which, by pulling the trigger or setting the hammer, are aligned with the barrel, placing the bullet in a position to be fired. The term includes, without limitation, a single or double derringer.

5. “Semiautomatic firearm” means a firearm which:

(a) Uses the energy of the explosive in a fixed cartridge to extract a fixed cartridge and chamber a fresh cartridge with each single pull of the trigger; and

(b) Requires the release of the trigger and another pull of the trigger for each successive shot.

Derringers do not have a revolving cylinder, they have a barrel for each round. NRS 202.3653 states that if you have qualified with any revolver, you are also authorized to carry any single or double (one or two round) derringer. There is no statutory cylinder size capacity for revolvers. There is a statutory capacity limitation for derringers though.
