Charles' meme says more about CA's state of tyranny than the fact that they brought guns in line with other stolen personal property values to determine the degree of crime stealing them represents. Steal a $949 POS car in CA and that's a misdemeanor. Steal a $950 POS car in CA and that's a felony. Same for $949 vs. $950 jewelry, knives, tools, furniture, boats, pets/livestock, musical instruments, wedding dresses, literally everything else, and now guns are viewed in the eyes of the law as no different than any other personal property as-regards values and degrees of crimes. A gun being a normal piece of personal property, a tool, and an item that regularly butts up against the value threshold of the previous law covering other theft-crime values, I'm not sure I can think of a pro-gun-rights reason why I should oppose this change. I'm open to hearing why I should, but I also think the more laws that treat guns as "normal" and doesn't sensationalize their imagined powers to be evil incarnate in and of themselves, are a good thing.
As S&W645 alluded to, it seems the bulk of the bill was aimed (no pun intended) at decriminalizing small amounts of drugs, which I know without a doubt is a good move towards ending the tyrannical War on The People, otherwise referred to as the "war on drugs." The war on drugs being at the root of the over-militarization of cop-shops across the country that all but the most devoted badgefluffers around here abhors, again, this seems like a good thing to me.
CA gun laws still suck out loud, and overall it is still a bastion of leftism that is a boil on the ass of this once-great nation, but in my view, this law takes that back a tiny notch rather than making it worse.
Sorry, I don't get what all the outrage is about.
