Cabelas Irony

I was at Cabelas this weekend and walked past the firearms check-in area - Cabelas requires all firearms to be checked in, and unloaded if you are taking them back to the library for sale or the scope counter. As I was watching one gun be checked in a customer walked in with a compound bow and fletches with broadheads and was allowed to walk in. I think if the gun check in is for the sake of safety, then I would hope that Cabelas could see the irony of letting someone walk through the store with a seriously lethal combination of a compound bow with broadhead tipped fletches.

I really don't see any irony. As you yourself said, they want you to check in weapons that are going to be entered into their system for one reason or another. I have been there many times, the sign doesn't say anything about your CCW nor has anyone ever asked me if I was carrying.

I was just there today and the guy clarified for me. CC is 100% ok and so is OC so long as your firearm is not being serviced, fitted for a holster or sold/appraised. You don't need to check it then. They just don't want guns that will be or could be taken out of the holster or case loaded and handled. I think that it's a good way to go about it.

Makes sense to me
