Gun was used in a suicide. Would you consider your underwear drawer due diligence in keeping your firearm away from a minor?

Per CA Penal code 12020:
"It is unlawful to store a loaded firearm where the person
knows or reasonably should know that a juvenile under 18
is likely to gain access to the firearm without the permission
of the juvenile’s parent or legal guardian and the juvenile
obtains access to the firearm and causes death or great bodily
harm to self or any other person. This prohibition shall
not apply if: the juvenile obtains the firearm as a result of
an illegal entry to any premises by any person; the firearm
is kept in a locked container or in a location which a reasonable
person would believe to be secure;....:

wow

People are interesting. What makes you think a child will not look everywhere in a home for anything, lock it up if not in use.

A loaded weapon in an underwear drawer is not secure. I have several weapons and the ones not being carried concealed are in a steel safe with a digital lock on it.

Stupid, if it ain't locked up then a kid will get to it one way or another. Lock them up and keep the key on you.
