i am going to buy a taurus pt 1911 on the first and would like to know what the pros and cons from the taurus owners themselves! please send me your thoughts

I've had mine for over 3 years. It shot great right out of the box. I've had no problems, no ammo issues. I am very pleased with my 1911 AR!

I can not speak for the 1911 45acp as that is my next purchase. We do have the Taurus 1911-9mm and it is just fantastic. Shoots like a tac driver, one on top of the other, all in the 9-10 zone, with minimal felt recoil, just love the gun. the only issue we had was with the stock 9mm magazines. I would recommend buying either Kimber or McCormick magazines even for the 45 from what I have read.

I just bought a Taurus 1911 with Novak sights. I am having trouble with the sights. My groups are pretty tight but they are always low. My sights are not adjustable, this is right out of the box. I have had others shoot the gun with the same results. The gun is great and accurate, just not at the exact point where I am aiming.

I got recently a Taurus 85 ultra light titanium .38 spl. Only took it to the range one time but it works awesome would I buy another revolver ? For 350 out the door I'd get another one

John,
I have had my PT1911AR for almost 3 years. I have found it to be one of the most accurate hand gums out of the box I have ever owned and continues
to have that reliability. No malfunctions and have fired over 500 rounds of various brands through it. It is the best handling handgun I own.

I also can't say about the 1911 because that will be my next purchase in the long list that I have. The only time I had to send one back was my PT-845, they replaced the barrel and adjusted the sights. It was shooting 6" right and 6" low after I got it back it ran fine. I guess my favorite 24/7 OSS .45 so far I will have to decide after I get a 1911 as well.

I've owned my 1911 AR for about 2 years and I love it! I've put about 1500rds through it so far with 2 FtF as a result of extreme build-up in chamber(I didn't clean it for the 1st 1K rds or so), not to mention the dirt/sand the weapon had in/on it.... I've put the gun in the dirt a lot as part of my training drills.

The finish is holding up alright, some wear & tear is expected.... from what I put my weapons through. It's worked very well all with the magizines I've used, Taurus & McCormick(?). It's one of the most accurate pistols I've owned as well!

Overall, a great pistol(IMO) for the price!

i have the pt1911 in .45 dual tone. not a single regret. solid lock up. shoots poa. eats 230gr like theres no tomorrow. awesome home defense gun. its heavy though, but its all steel. love it. its in my nightstand right now.

I'll be interested to hear your review when you do get one.

I was looking at one on sale at Bass Pro Shop. That thing was looser than a prom queen. Could be that it shoots straight though.
I've never really bought into the idea that close fitment counts for anything other than at the bushing and at the barrel lugs though.

I bought a 1911 Due Tone .45 new and discovered it shot low. Just to warn you, Taurus has their Novak rear sights on the 1911 but their cut in the slide is proprietary, unique only to Taurus. You can get Novak elevation adjustable rear sights for it though. I also had problems with the second round (hollow points) failing to feed, getting stuck between the feed ramp and the barrel. After several hundred rounds it squared away and with a new rear sight I have no complaints. You can check out the Taurusarmed web site for more info.

I have my local gun shop holding one for me until I get paid on the first. I carry a sig tactical 1911 as a daily carry pistol. I shoot turtle with it out to about 100 yards. I would not own a 1911 unless it was a all steel frame and slide. I want a 1911 that I won't feel bad about customizing. Thank u for ur comments

Hey guys I appreciate all the info on this pistol. I look forward to letting u guys know how it shoots. I really hope it's close to perfect as my sig tactical 1911

I have had my 1911 for 3 years now.It is my duty carry and it has been flawless.I wouldn't trade it for anything.I have purchased a Taurus PT145 for off duty carry. It is also a great weapon.

Picked up a pt1911ar in .38 super last January. You probably know this already but clean it well before running it. Keep it lubed. I've had it out running 3 times for about 500 rounds now. Last time out I was doing some fast (for me) cycling. I had 4 clips ready to go. I went through three 9 round clips with no problem in about 90 seconds. On the fourth clip at round 4, the slide did not return to full battery. I "helped" it by giving a firm push. I finished the clip and the last round FTE. It ran another full clip 30 minutes later with no problem.

Before this point it had never shown any issue and ran like a truck. But I never ran it as hard as that either. This was on 7/15 evening and I haven't taken it down yet but will be looking at it tonight. Overall, I'm still happy with this pistol. A solid 1911 for an excellent price.

I've had a number of Taurus in my life, and I wouldn't give you a dollar for a dozen of them, the ones I had where junk, bad milling, cheap parts, jamed all the time or would break. Its been a while, so not sure how they are now, but I only buy High quality firearms now, a Taurus does not have a high resale value, and that is a fact. I will never buy another one.
