So it has been awhile since i bought a gun resident and resident. What all needs to be on the Bill of Sale? I cant remember it has been awhile?. We are both TN residents. Thanks in advance.

P. S. If i am right you don't need any paper work if both parties are TN residents. Am i correct? Are should i do a Bill of Sale anyways?

I am fairly certain you are not required to have any paperwork in TN, we aren't in VA at least. However, a Bill of Sale is a good idea in case the firearm is ever involved in a crime later. Having the Bill of Sale will help limit any problems you have with law enforcement if something like that were to happen.

When I did one a few months ago, I made sure to check their ID and then on the Bill I had:
-- Both our names and addresses, along with signatures
-- The date
-- The make/model/serial number of the firearm being transfered

Make two copies, one for each of you.
EDIT: Also, were I to do so again I would have a phrase something like: "I am a lawful purchaser, not a felon or any other prohibited person under federal or state law to take possession of this firearm." And have that statement specifically signed as well.

In Michigan, we go to the local Sheriffs office and get whats called a "purchase permit" its not needed, especially if both persons are CPL holders, but, then again, you fill it out, mail in the proper section, and both of you keep a copy, theyre free, and eliminate any legal issues.
