This guy built an AK-47 out of a shovel he paid $2 for. Highly entertaining.

DIY: Shovel AK

Adapt, overcome and improvise. Gotta lov the need to use what evers available to accomplish your needs.

In this day of CNC and design/ cad programs floating on the net one can download the program for just about any firearm they wish put it on a flash drive plug said drive into the CNC chuck up a chunk of metal and hit run. Wait for the program to finish or to turn the part and you have a firearm. Easy fast and very close if not to perfect spec...

Or just buy a shovel.

That is a option but my point was the conversion form shovel to AK requires allot of SKILL. The CNC route can be done by a 2yo kid by inserting a flash drive and pressing two buttons. That said you do need or need to have access to a cnc but in this day and age you woudl be surprised how many people have one in there garage or what shops near you may have them. You can take a Grizzly mill and with the addition of a cnc kit you can have your own for fairly cheap..

True, but most people don't know how to operate them. They aren't all that complicated, but considering how many people have difficulty operating a mouse, I'm not confident there are all that many people who would figure out a CNC machine.

If the person is not able to insert a flash drive and hit start then forging a shovel head into the proper shape welding the parts drilling holes as the exact needed locations is much further off the table for them...

CNC isn't that simple.

And somebody has to write the data on the flash drive.

I am guessing you missed the part where I said clearly that you can DOWNLOAD the programs for just about anything off the internet! As this is the "hard" part of of the process all that is left is to chuck the part and run the program. Depending on the machine this can be very easy or very hard. Most modern ones are extremely easy to run a pre written program. The hardest part of the process is to flip the part when needed.

Very few machines are that simple, and none have just an "on" switch. They're much more likely to be able to use the hand tools. That was all I was getting at. I think we're both arguing the same idea from different perspectives though. People would still be able to make guns if guns were outlawed, no matter which method they used.
