Browning open carry holster

I have been looking for an open carry holster for an old HiPower. I want to use it primarily for working in the yard. Criteria are protecting the gun, easy draw, wont fall out while doing yard work or on the tractor.

I found some recommendations, but the only one that really looked like what I want is Blackhawk Level 2 SERPA holster. Unfortunately they do not seem to make one for the HiPower. Everything else I looked at either provided less than full coverage of the gun and/or had a thumb release of some sort (which I don't think I would like).

Does anyone know of a very similar holster from another vendor? I have also heard that a 1911 holster will work for the HiPower, but I am concerned about the various features of the holster working correctly. I also have a Crimson Trace laser installed. It is a little lump above the grip on the right side. I am wondering if this will also impact the holster.

We have a model for the Hi-Power in stock, and the laser unit won't affect the fit into our holsters.

For what you describe, a Talon would be the best choice for retention without a thumbreak, and covering the most area of the gun while still allowing a smooth, fast, unencumbered draw.

You can take a look at Link Removed to see if this might be what you're looking for. :-)

This was moved from concealed carry at my request. A UIP, I inadvertently posted it to the wrong forum.

Thanks DL. But it leaves too much of the gun exposed to dirt and dings.

Think day laborer type of environment. I would also like a positive latching, if I can.

Anyone out there using a 1911 Blackhawk SERPA for a HiPower?

I live in the tri cities, if you can't find a holster, I could make you one. It will be custom fit to your hipower with crimson trace. It would only be a level 1, but it will not fall out.

I open carried a BHP for several years but finally got tired of people asking me if I knew my pistol was cocked.

You might look at the DeSantis Thumb Break Scabbard holster. It might work for you and I love mine. Great retention.
