A sister of the Newtown school psychologist who lives in Littleton, CO, says her sister, who tried to talk the Newtown shooter out of his plans and was killed, wouldn't want people walking around schools with guns. I guess she thinks her sister would want more people to die needlessly.

And people say THAT'S the intelligent approach?

Proverbs 25:26, "Like a muddied spring or a polluted fountain is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked."

It was never God's plan for the righteous to give in to the wicked.

4 of Briggsdale's 14 teachers intend to carry.

Good for them!

I have a dream. I dream that one day people will be able to defend themselves from the evil that permeates our lives.

I have a dream. I dream that one day I will be free to defend myself, not based on where I work, but on the basis that my life is worth defending.

I have a dream. I dream that one day, evil doers will stop targeting schools because they too will be defended as heavily as that evil doer is.

I have a dream, that as a teacher, I too will be able to carry as they are doing in Briggsdale, CO now.

Thanks for sharing Ezkl. It encourages me when I see more schools using good logical reasoning.

I think it's outstanding that Briggsdale's school is taking this stand. I do wonder, however, as a Colorado resident, how this fits with the law forbidding guns on school property. I would like to promote the same in my own school; but have always run up against the prohibition of law. If anyone has insight as to how Briggsdale got around the law, I sure would like to know.

This is the law:
18-12-105.5. Unlawfully carrying a weapon - unlawful possession of weapons - school, college, or university grounds.

(1) A person commits a class 6 felony if such person knowingly and unlawfully and without legal authority carries, brings, or has in such person's possession a deadly weapon as defined in section 18-1-901 (3) (e) in or on the real estate and all improvements erected thereon of any public or private elementary, middle, junior high, high, or vocational school or any public or private college, university, or seminary, except for the purpose of presenting an authorized public demonstration or exhibition pursuant to instruction in conjunction with an organized school or class, for the purpose of carrying out the necessary duties and functions of an employee of an educational institution that require the use of a deadly weapon, or for the purpose of participation in an authorized extracurricular activity or on an athletic team.

I would think that the school board would just make the case that with the situation in the world in which we cannot secure our schools properly it is necessary for those to bring in their own firearms to execute the duties of the safety team at their school.
