On the metal parts it works great. By any means necessary keep it off plastics and the 'non' metals of any gun especially woods. After you use it for cleaning make sure you oil the surfaces thoroughly other wise you will get rust.
You might want to get some chemical resistant rubber gloves when working with it. The regular latex glove melt when exposed. I found out the hard way.
I use it if I have an extremely dirty action that needs to be cleaned out or after I use dirty ammo. It hasn't harmed any of the bluing or black on any of the guns I've used it on. In all honesty, a guy at the range told me he used it on a polymer pistol and it melted some of the checkering on the grip. I didn't ask him if he sprayed it on or let the frame soak in it but I decided NOT to to experiment with any of my polymer guns. They go through the dish washer machine after being stripped.
I did get BC on the wooden grip panels of my Taurus. it must have had a crack it in I didn't know about and the BC soaked in right away and discolored the grip to the extent the finish began breaking down while it was in the safe. Talk about being pissed at yourself when you open the safe!
Short answer is sure you can use it. Just be careful what and where you use it on.
