Boycott 'The Daily Show'...They don't deserve ratings imho.

Lizz Winstead, comedian and creator of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” was heavily criticized after jokingly saying Monday’s deadly tornado in Oklahoma had “Been ordered to only target conservatives'.

Lizz WinsteadWinstead clearly did not consider the insensitivity of her disgusting joke. As of 9:45 p.m. ET, the tornado had killed at least 51 people and the death toll was expected to rise.

More than two hours after her “joke,” Winstead tweeted the following apology:

“Made a political joke, Twas before devastation revealed. In hindsight, had I understood, I would have refrained. Beyond sorry.”

Plus Senator Whitehouse D RI took the floor of the US Senate & blamed the GOP for not believing in Global Warming. It did not take 5 minutes into the disaster before it was the fault of the GOP.

I think the show's ingenious. It's a perfect propaganda platform. While we have idiots (IMO) like O'Riley and Beck trying to convey our ideas, they come off as nothing more than arrogant, paranoid conspiracy theorists to most of the population. Meanwhile, they have Colbert and Stewart who use light-hearted satire to spread their garbage and come across playfully to their audience which, IMO, makes it much easier to absorb and more believable to the uneducated voter. A large portion of their audience watches the show, not for the politics but strictly for the comedy, and just gets brainwashed in the process. Nobody (that I know of) watches the O'Riley Factor for entertainment value.

Never heard of Ms. Winstead before, but I won't pretend like any of us have never made an out of taste comment before and won't judge her based solely on that.

I watched it prior to Jon Stewart's taking the show, and for the first year or so afterward....I guess around the turn of the millennium. Once it became obvious that he was sickenly liberal, I couldn't stomach it anymore.

I fully agree with jcreek. It surpassed SNL many years ago as the most brilliant purveyor of liberal ideas disguised as comedy. I would imagine that well over 50% of white people under 40 that voted for Obama get all of their national news from Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and the Not Ready for Prime Time Players. (I guess they are still called that, I haven't watched it in at least a decade)

Almost everything on the television is influenced with political propaganda these days. Doesn't matter what channel or type of show you watch. News, sporting events, reality shows, crime dramas, everything. There are people (most in fact) that would say that the worst piece of technology ever created by man would be nuclear weapons. I beg to differ, I say the television has done more to harm mankind than any weapon of mass destruction. Don't get me wrong, there are some good things about television, it's just the bad far outweighs the good.
