I just saw this and it hit me - here's the problem!
-
Mom's in the kitchen, the kids are at the table with a glass of chocolate milk. The kids are blowing bubbles in the milk so that it is overflowing onto the table,
-
Mom smiles and says "Why stop them when they're having so much fun" then grabs her paper towel to clean up after them.
-
I know this is pretty random, but my mom would have asked (loudly) "what the hell are you doing?" paddled my a$$ with a wooden spoon, then told me to go play outside or sent me to my room. Today we coddle them, do not teach them personal responsibility, and don't teach them about their actions having adverse consequences.
