!!!Bought my first AR-15!!!!

I'm the kind of dude that takes a really long time to make a purchasing decision. I'm an avid pistol shooter and recently decided to step it up to long guns. I started hunting for my first AR..

Obviously, price was a big consideration but more importantly quality was my main concern. I wanted to get the most bang more my buck. I considered building one but decided to leave that for a future project.

I thought of getting one of the $600 M&Ps... but thought that I would regret not getting something better. Wanted to get a bushmaster and customize it but I really wasn't all that convinced.

I stumbled upon (what I believe) the deal of the century. I picked myself up a Colt LE 6920 with all types of goodies for $1350.

The package included a NIB, unfired AR with accessories in their original packaging with receipts. Here's the list of what it came with:

1. Eotech 512
2. 7" picatinny tactical hand guard
3. Folding back up sight
4. Tango Down quick detach vertical grip
5. Original handle and hand guard
6. New in the package BCM bolt upgrade kit
7. New in the package BCM extractor spring kit (3 pack)
8. 5 Pmags
9. Bore snake
10.200 rounds of Federal XM193 ammo
11.Bull Dog carrying case.
12. Original packaging for the accessories
13. Original box for the rifle with factory mags
14. Receipts of purchase

He purchased the gun during the election when Colt prices were inflated. The receipt read $1600. All the extras totaled to more than $1000.

I swiped it for $1350! Needless to say I'm a happy camper:biggrin:

Congratulations! But I must protest. M&Ps are quality weapon systems. Top of the line, maybe not. But accurate, reliable, and tough; YES. I have never had any issue with mine. And I don't baby it. But I am happy that you found something that you have confidence in. That is a very important factor.

Yea sorry guys if I didn't make it clear how little I know about long guns. I mostly own pistols and with the exception of my little Savage Arms .22 this is my first rifle.

I'm definitely not generalizing M&P's they are great and I know that much; I was talking about the "Sport" version that's really inexpensive..

It just seems to me that to make an AR so affordable, they had to cut some corners somewhere.

I built my first AR 15 last summer. I had only had bolt guns before. Fun project! And EASY!

You got a very nice deal! I like shooting the AR more than my Remmy 700SPS 308. But the .308 has a ton more zap and range.

Oh, buy the way, I hope you reload! Your gonna need to!

I have one also. But aside from target shooting, the only purpose it serves is for the off chance I may need it for "crowd (mob) control" someday. The way things are going right now, I perceive that that "off chance" is picking up probability points in the standings.

But you never know, common sence in politics just might magically break out somewhere and prove to be epidemic. In the meantime, I always try to be prepared for the worst. Unfortunately, in my life, "the worst" has always proven to be even worse than I can imagine! LOL!

One can only hope but with their track record it's not looking good. Common sense and politics don't belong in the same sentence. An oxymoron if there ever was one.

Congrats! I have to admit I could not help but have a chuckle about the receipts being listed with all the stuff you got ... but that's okay.

Colt certainly has some experience making these so I am sure you will have a lot of fun with your new toy!!!

LOL! Yea it is kinda funny when you think about it but to me it was definitely a perk and made me feel more comfortable with buying from a private seller instead of a gun shop.

It's like buying a used car; If the dude has all his maintenance records, carfax report, and a bunch of other things- you're gonna feel better about buying from him and you're gonna go back and tell your buddies (you guys) about how great everything went.

Oh now I get it! You got the receipts from where the seller acquired it, yes that makes sense! ;-)

Great choice on the Colt AR!!... Mine is a Pre-ban Colt A2 fixed carry handle. Traded a guitar I had in my collection for it and a stainless Colt Officer's 45ACP...

Great deal on the Colt.. For all the gear that was included and the unfired rifle. Big win!!

I also have to agree that the M&P15 would not have been a poor choice. I own 5 S&W firearms and have never had any issues. I bought the M&P15-22 over a month ago and love the performance. Great "practical tactical" training for 3¢ per round...

Now, it's a fish story without pictures... Gun porn...
