Bond arms

I have a Bond Arms derringer that I use as a bug occasionally.
One of the barrels I have for it is a 22mag. Is there reasons why I can't shoot 22lr from this barrel?
I know I wouldn't want to try it the other way around. I have put the 22lr in the barrell, looks to me like it would work.

Quick Google search shows that it is not a good idea due to case sizes being slightly different, with people having .22lr cases split and sending gas back towards the shooter.

I have a derringer as well, it came with both the .22lr and .22wmr barrel set. A lot of .22 revolvers also come with a second cylinder for the two different rounds.

Maybe some here have personal experience, but since I have not interchanged the two rounds in the same barrel I can't tell you I personally have split cases. Since I have both barrels, I don't plan on testing it either.

Hope this helps.

Too really see the difference in sizes, try putting a .22 wmr into a .22lr.

While it's not nearly as dangerous as high pressure center fire rounds...I would not advise you to do it...but if you do test it out (using extreme safety measures), let us know how it went.

Same replies from another forum. Don't think I'll try it.
22lr barrel is only $139. That is the way I'll go.
It's just that 22lr is so much cheaper than 22wmr.
Thanks !!!

What you need to do is track down some 22 "WRF" ammo for that 22 mag chamber. They are much milder than 22 mag ammo & shoot just fine in a mag chamber. Google it up, Midwayusa & others sell 22 WRF ammo.

22 lr are going for about $17 for a 525 rd. box in my area. 22 WMR & WRF are mucho dinero.
Not concerned with stopping power or balistics, just CHEAP shooting.
I have the 45/410 barrel for when I use it for a bug.

My son "Borrowed" my old .22mag single action one time and shot L.R. thru it. Some of the cases split and some became stuck in the cylinder. Stuck so firmly he took a rock to the ejector rod and promptly rendered it useless.

This revolver is now what he will inherit when I die and none of my other firearms.
