Bodyguard hit the deck this morning

This morning just like every morning started out with putting my Bodyguard 380 right at 3 oclock. I headed to mcdonalds with my family and after breakfast I was refilling my sweet tea and out popped my trusty bodyguard, holster and all, right on the deck. My wife was smart and helped shield me as I quickly scooped it up and just put it in my hoodie in a matter of seconds. The resteraunt was pretty busy but luckily no one noticed. I have been carrying for 3 years now and have never had a problem with my rig. When I got home I tried to recreate the drop with my holster and the only thing I could come up with was in the morning I didnt make sure the belt clip was seeded properly on the bottom of my belt and it worked its way. It was a valuable lesson for me on how it was easy for me to be complacent and assume that just because I do it every morning I still need to go through some checks. And After only 3 years of dedicated carrying I am still a rookie.

Good lesson to learn - don't become complacent.

Your subject line confused me - I was expecting a story about some bodyguard dropping to the floor and leaving his protectee standing in the line of fire.

I found out that a clip on holster isn't very secure and can come off pretty easily so that's why I use a leather OWB, forward cant, thumb break, belt secured holster. I just don't feel comfortable with a clip holster for EDC . The last thing I would ever want is to have my SR40C to hit the floor. JMO

Me too! I was hoping "bloomie" was involved!
You know, one of his BG's dove for cover and left him open to attack!

Anyone who saw or heard probably just thought it was a cell phone and didn't give a second look. Great to learn a lesson like that without getting caught.

The general public wouldn't register it as a gun because, as we all know, they ALWAYS go off when you drop them. Just watch any movie. They are like enriched uranium at critical mass.

I got one better. I was in an airport (I was a LEO in plain clothes at the time) taking a dump. I was in the process of undoing my pants, I unholstered my issued firearm out from the in the waist holster when I dropped the weapon, the weapon hit the tile floor and slid a bit and under the wall to the next toilet. I quickly kneeled down and grabbed the weapon, than looked left, than right and noticed I was the only person in the airport bathroom. I than began to laugh uncontrollably for some reason. It was scary at first but thank goodness there was no one else in that stall next to me.
