Bloomberg is putting $50 million into yet another gun grabber group that has been described as the "anti-NRA" called "Everytown for Gun Safety," no doubt a play on the name of Newtown. Everytown will become the new umbrella group, incorporating both Moms Demand and MAIG. This group will focus on recruiting women, the push will be for universal background checks (to start with), and he hopes to have a million new members this year.

They are supposed to be having kickoff events in multiple cities very shortly; no doubt my own town will be among those cities, as our mayor has his head buried so far up Bloomberg's butt that the only time he gets something to breathe is when Bloomberg farts.

As this article points out, Bloomberg is getting more dangerous because he knows he's not going to live forever. And he has an incredibly arrogant view of himself:

But if he senses that he may not have as much time left as he would like, he has little doubt about what would await him at a Judgment Day. Pointing to his work on gun safety, obesity and smoking cessation, he said with a grin: “I am telling you if there is a God, when I get to heaven I’m not stopping to be interviewed. I am heading straight in. I have earned my place in heaven. It’s not even close.”

Taking on the NRA is one thing....but if there is a God, telling God that you earned your place in heaven? Hmmm....... I wish I could see how that works out for him.

That is what you do when you are a little *****, have money, and want to be a big *****. The old Napoleon complex. Put it together with a hopeless dash of liberal progressive democrat dung and you really have a pile of *****--big or little.

It is his right to spend his cash the way he wants and to support what he feels he should.
Having said that I am glad he is pissing away his cash on a cause that most gun owners have said enough to. If the stand off with the rancher is any indication of where citizens minds are any one trying to try and take our guns is in for a very ruff road.

Although I agree he has the right to spend his money anyway he wants. The hypocrisy comes in when a RICH conservatives spends their money promoting their political agenda. RICH liberals will get a pass from the main stream press and will be championed because they care so much to spend their own money for the cause. Let a RICH conservative spend their own money for a conservative political cause and they will be vilified because they are RICH and can afford to force their agenda on the rest of us.

I only can hope that he will meet his god soon. I don't think that either his money or his work on this earth will earn himself a guarantee to heaven. Actually, he's one of Satan's favorite disciples, right after Obama, Reed, Pelosi, the Clintons, and all the rest of the socialistic politicians who are hell-bent on destroying America.

He is a scary guy. There is not doubt that $ influences voting. That's probably why he was elected in the first place. This is an individual influencing states he does not reside in.

IMO this sort of thing is inductive of how corrupt the system is these days.

Just ' bout the action Boss...

You figure he lost on the Big Gulp issue (Banning super sized soft drinks in NYC) so you have to know his EGO is hurting for a win. Right or Wrong, he can spend his money anyway he wants to. Doesn't mean the people will buy into his BS. So far his groups of MAYORS and MOMS have proven to be less then desirable. Too many mayors where doing dubious things and with GUNS too. and the MOMS have decided to make up facts, but when questioned on validity, they had no way to back their claims up. So Far BLOOMIE is 0 for 2 on his Anti Gun quest, lets hope he gets the Reverse hat trick of being 0-3.

Next time someone tells me that there should be more stringent background checks for firearms purchase I think I'll agree, as long as they agree that the exact same background check requirement be in place to vote in any election.

I'm a bit turned off by the angry replies. It would be nice to read some decent content and not satan stuff. Really?

With that said... I've been trying to wrap my head around the crazy gun violence that happens on a daily basis. I just spent an afternoon on the net looking at police chases that ended badly for criminals. WTF! I'm comfortable thinking not everybody should have a gun (can't have mine though).

I guess I'm a little disheartened after reading about Bloomberg and the sure to come boxing match with the NRA. The root causes of violence won't be addressed. It's just going to be an expensive pissing contest and huge waste of money.

About the part of your post I put in bold for emphasis... something to think about....

Just as you are comfortable thinking not everyone should have a gun for whatever reasons you might have...

... there is someone else thinking YOU should not have a gun for whatever reasons they might have.

Either it is the right to keep and bear arms for everyone or it is the privilege controlled by those who think only they, and only those like them, are worthy to keep and bear arms.

Because if it is a privilege then those who control the privilege................... control "we the people". And the elites who think they are our "betters" understand that concept extremely well. So well that they constantly try to get more and more gun control because the more they control the guns the more they control "we the people".

And before the debate about whether nuts and violent criminals should be "allowed" (there is that concept of a privilege again) to keep and bear arms gets started again.... if folks are honest and they really want to prevent nuts and violent criminals from hurting innocents then what is needed isn't gun control but nuts and violent criminals need to be controlled so they don't have access to more victims. It isn't the guns that are causing harm to victims... it is the nuts and violent criminals who are let loose just to save the money spent on housing that are doing harmful things to victims they have access to once they are let out of prison or a hospital.

It isn't the gun... it is the individual who is a nut or violent criminal that is let loose to prey upon the innocent that is the problem.

Where are all these recent trolls coming from?!

Good read.

Right, privilege... gets a little muddy to me. A complicated issue to me at least.

It won't be a boxing match, it will be an ass-whipping. None of Bloomy's gun efforts have been successful. All have been laughable. His legacy is nothing more than banning 20 ounce soda.
