What's your take on those 2x2 inch stickers on rear bumpers that are black/blue/black horizontal bars that mean that you have a concealed weapon in your car?

I see lots of them when I am in Arkansas on the rear of vehicles, supposedly to inform law enforcement that there is a gun on board. LEOs have that info in their LEO data base and those stickers just tell everybody else that your secret gun is now known by the public.
Just like NRA stickers..... "I have guns, follow me home and rob my house later."

Many times I have asked people in gas stations, "what kind of gun do you have?" and they look at me like I am nuts, wondering how I know they have a gun.

Some say, "none".
Some say, "oh, that means that I used to be a LEO"
Some say, "My dad put that there so the cops wouldn't hassle me."
Seom say, "I put that on there so the drug dealers wouldn't approach me." = college student
Some say, "oh my uncle is a state cop and he put that there so cops won't give mea ticket."
One said, "My son is the chief county investigator and he put that there so LEOs would leave me alone."

I don't know about you but to me advertising that I have a weapon is NOT what I call smart. Other threads will show that I personally probably would never open carry= just my personal choice. Link Removed

OH, some people have them on the front also.... supposedly so that if they are approaching a road block the LEOs will be informed. duh.

I thought the sticker meant you were LE. If it means 'gun on board' then count me out. No advertising desired here.

police

Thats the thin blue line. Its supposed to mean youre law enforcement, not a ccw holder. It has nothing to do with permit holding and youre not supposed to have one unless youre a cop.

When I was in Arkansas I asked local, sheriff, and AR State Police about the sticker (I also called the ASP headquarters), and each time was told that the sticker means NOTHING OFFICIALLY, and that they ignore them, beyond the initial sighting knowing that the car driver WANTS to brag about his gun. Each LEO has told me that the sticker carries no authority in their assessment of the traffic stop, ........ one expressed that he thought the stickers were "generally stupid idea".

The only ones I know that have those type of decals are law enforcement. I would not want one for fear of someone asking me if I was a leo and I get say no, I like the sticker.

What state and what official sanction?
Arkansas State Police headquarters in Little Rock and County says that there is NO official sticker or meaning. period

No, thank you. No thin blue line. No NRA. Sorry, no USACarry. No Ruger, Glock, etc. No wise ass stickers about security by S&W. Not on my car, my house, or my person. The possible exception might be a hat or shirt worn at the range where everyone should already assume that everyone is packing.

I enjoy looking at the the articles worn by others, and even, from time to time, think about relaxing my policy. For the greater part, I am happy with my choice.

Same here. I feel is better not to advertize, it is no one's business if I carry a gun or not..
So If a sticker is used to claim I am carrying I stay away from them :)

I like firearm logos to show support of firearms in general. I don't put any decals on my vehicle because I like a clean look, but I do wear shirts with firearm brands on them. I haven't heard of any of the vehicles in my area ever getting robbed because of a firearm decal...or anyone being followed home because of one. I don't see a problem with them. If you support it, have at it, I don't mind others knowing I own firearms, I'm proud of it. :-)

If that sticker truly is a police (or fire) sticker to "get out of tickets" (and officers are giving them to family and friends with that reasoning)...well that is lame...

I have a green gun un-buster sticker on the back of my car, it's not to the tell the world I am armed per se, but rather to show my support for concealed carry.

I don't have a particular firearm brand on my truck. I do have an AR15.com logo and a III% logo. (Needed to balance the look.) It is the first time I've ever put a sticker like that on my vehicle. One of the reasons was because of the guys at CMMG who hold 3-gun competitions at there facilities. (They build ARs and are great folks.) The other was because of the current political climate.

Well when I went to San Fran. A lot of the folks there had these multi colored stickers on there cars you know like a rainbow...anyway I asked a local there what they were for ? I don't think it had anything to do with a firearm.

it's the thin blue line it means line of duty death for police thin red line is for firefighters

It's a way of supporting law enforcement, or the red one is for support of fire fighters. That's all. Hope that puts an end to the speculation above.
