Biometric handgun safe

Has anyone ever used one of the fingerprint ID safes? Looking at reviews online the cheaper ones fail to open a significant number of times on the first attempt at opening.

Been considering trying this one. With little kids in the house I want the guns secure but ready to access quickly if needed

I've been using a barska for the past two years. I love it. I did both index fingers incase I have a cut on one, and did each finger from like ten angles. Occasionally, it won't read on the first attempt but a quick adjustment and it opens right up.

Machines fail. If I were you, I would not trust your life to something that will supposedly read your fingerprint and give you your gun instantly. Just imagine the time when you need your gun and your battery on the vault died, or if your fingers had some dirt on them...

That thought scares me. Especially since that is the number one complaint when reading reviews online. I was hoping to find a few options for a safe that has a good track record.

I really don't want a combo lock safe but with 6 yr old kids in the house I would like to lock them up when they are not in my direct control.

I have never seen a reliable biometric safe. I have seen mythbuster defeat biometrics.

I would use this instead.

Not sure this is the same model as what I have used but mine allows for combinations of puttons to be pushed at the same time and a lockout and notification light if there are failed attempts to get in it.

I did look at that safe as a viable option but the reviews scared me off. Almost as many 1 star ratings as 5 star ratings lol.

No matter what safe I choose I guess I need to be ready to use the key as a back up in an emergency

How about quick access, but not biometric?

Sounds good. I'm looking mainly for reliable, consistent and quick opening in a emergency. I really don't want to be fumbling with a key if someone is breaking a window.

Do you have a suggestion? I'm willing to consider all options

Get a gun vault button one. Biometric wont open if u have too much dirt or oils on your hand. Buttons one is half price, works great and has a key override

Hahaha i just saw your username ;) (FAS1)

I was about to ask if you had ever used one LOL. I am leaning towards purchasing one, I'm glad you are on the forum.

There's a Cyber Monday coupon code on the web page that will save you $20.00 tomorrow if you decide to buy. There are othe brands out there too that use this style lock such as the Fort Knox and V-Line brands. All are a little different depending on what features you want. I personally don't like electronics on something like a handgun safe so for me the push button locks are my choice. Good luck in your search for what will work best for you. Lots of choices available these days.
