I'm rather large guy. Question I have is I have always wore my belt over my stomach not under. What best position and holster to not print in this position. Thanks

Howdy Jason,

What do you call a "big guy"?

I'm 6' 1" ( not 5' 9" and only claim to be 6' 1" ) and 250lbs.

I'm also very short waisted and wear my belt over my belly too.

I've been carry a handgun for over 33 years and carry OWB at 3:00. I've tried every conceivable carry method and have settled on this carry.

Big guy here too. 6'1, 2ish and 300.

I IWB about 3-4 o'clock. wearing slightly larger shirts helps with not printing for me.

6' 4", 302#. OWB 3-4pm depending on various stuff. No issue totally non-printing Bodyguard 380 in pancake holster or glock 30S in two straps over belt - in tee shirt. Glock 21 in pancake DOES stick out plenty - need sweatshirt or jacket over that.

I'm 6'2. 320. I know got try to really know what works for me. Few videos I've seen belt worn under belly. So just curious what works when belt worn on stomach and gun would ride on love handle at 3 o'clock. Thanks for replys and what belt and holster do you guys recommend?

Howdy Jason,

I use either a Dickie's or a Wrangler belt and a Glock Sport holster for my G23 and G20.

I'm 6'5" and 300 lbs. I carry a Springfield TRP IWB at about 4:00 using a DM Bullard leather holster with no problems.

Difficult, if not impossible, to draw from a sitting position, such as while driving or sitting in a restaurant or at an office desk.

I don't know about you but in a shooting situation... I'm NOT going to be sitting still. Drawing a gun while driving is not a good idea either.
Just my thoughts.

There are numerous situations, where drawing your gun while sitting in a vehicle may save your life one day, including car jacking and road rage incidents. While the vehicle itself may allow you to escape the situation or to use it as a weapon, in many circumstances drawing your gun and shooting through the windshield or a side door/window may be necessary. We had two recent car jacking incidents in my area (West Knoxville, TN).

The same thing goes for sitting in a restaurant (fine dining or fast food). If an armed robber comes in to the restaurant, you are certainly not going to stand up from your table in order to draw. We had several recent restaurant robberies as well.

These types of unusual holsters are typically heavily marketed to those that have zero training. There are other issues with such holsters that make them impractical, including a more complicated one-handed draw.

AT 5'10 240 (BRICK SHAPED) I wear as uniform of the day 10 months a year here in Tucson a tee shirt outside and/or a polo shirt. The (cooler) months a tee inside the pants and a shirt jacket open over. I carry a full size Sig 320 between 3 and 3:30 and never had a problem with anyone commenting on me carrying. A good holster and I use a Crossbreed sliding adjustable gun belt that keeps the gun in tight against my body. The wife many times has asked me if I am carrying when we leave the house so I just forget about the fact of advertising the gun. I do watch bending or kneeling because the gun rides different. Anyway being in my '80 most non-gun people if they see a bulge will possibly think it is a medical device...See old age does have an advanatage other than what my doc tells me "the only good thing about old age is that it doesn't last that long."
