The best position is the postition that is best for you. Move it around and find out which is the most comfortable and easiest to draw. Most people have their own favorite method of carry and there is no one perfect position for everyone.

I carry Appendix. To be honest before you do this read up on the pros and cons. Why, because you firearm sits in a very vulnerable spot (I dont mean the family jewels but the a major Artery)

Now that I got the Disclaimer done. I carry that way because of mobility issues. i am mid sixties and probably can draw at 3 O'clock with some difficulty, beyond that isn't going to happen. I normally carry at 1-1:30 a Ruger SR40C or Glock G19 in a 3Speed Holster and at times i use a Remora Holster for my G19 at 2:00

I carry at about the 1:30 to 2:00 position. I've tried every conceivable type of carry and that's just what works the best for me. Like you, anything past 3:00 doesn't work good for me and I have no arm or shoulder problems. I use a Sticky Holster 90% of the time, which will work anywhere IWB. But what's right for me or Kennydale might not be right for you.

The most comfortable place for my gun is attached to other people's faces...otherwise I usually carry owb 3 o'clock...

3 is at your widest point so it prints, bumps into everything. 5 comes into contact with chairs when you sit down, and is far enough back it is difficult to present and reholster. 4 seems to work best for most people and many pants have a opening between belt loops at 4.

The all plastic holster is great for training as it is easy to reholster, but hard anything is unforgiving after long days and you may get sore. Hard to beat a high quality leather IWB holster.

Funny, my 3 o'clock position doesn't bump into anything.

Don't drive wide load trucks over narrow bridges lol

Some of us wear two guns a 4 and 8, compounds the printing at 3 & 9

We live in a 360 world but many of us participate and reconize things in 0 45 90 and 180 degrees. We see things straight ahead or sideways. Like mug shots for example.

If folks tend to look for stuff in certain places, why not dumbfound them by placing it somewhere between the places most odious?

I carry anywhere from about 230 to 430 depending on what I'm wearing and carry from a lcr .38 to a 5" 1911. Just gotta figure or what works for you. Takes trial and error.

You're going to hate my suggestion along with others but given your situation get over it:dirol:Link Removed Should make your life easier.
These are the best packs out there.

I gave up trying to carry iwb comfortably, it just doesent work in the car or sitting at all when carrying a mid to full size auto, if you want to carry one of those girly lcp or nanos go ahead I will stick with my 23 and the galco
