I am in the process of looking to invest in a 1911. I bought the Sig Sauer 1911 22LR and love shooting it. I already own a Glock 19 and love it, but now I want a 1911. A friend let me shoot his Kimber custom stainless. Everyone is making 1911 now and even heard Glock was going to make it soon. Which brands do you think is the best? Kimber, Colt, Dan Wesson, Sig Sauer, Springfield, S&W? I would like to hear your thoughts.

The thread has indeed been done to death, but I have been very impressed by my Sig Sauer 1911 C3. It is my primary carry gun, replacing my Glock 26. Sig in my opinion represents a better value than the other brands in this category.
Not going to knock any of the others because I haven't tried any of them,except the Colt. Loved the Colt but,unfortunately,I was relieved of it years ago in a burglary. My 1911 of choice now is a Para P-14 Limited,ss. This gun has never let me down,never a jam,or any other malfunction. BTW,15 rds. of.45 makes me feel all safe,and secure.

It's all about personal preference and there really is none that are truly better than another one. Some like the Kimber, others don't. Some like the Colt, others don't. Some like the Ruger, others don't. Some like the Glock, others don't. Get the idea? So....which one is the best for YOU?
