Beretta Pico yet? and .380s...

Has anyone seen or heard anything about when the Pico will be released? I've been looking all over and found nothing.

I have come to the conclusion that I have a vacant niche that can be filled by a tiny .380, but haven't seen anything I really like. Mostly because I'm not a huge fan of tiny guns... but that's beside the point! It would be useful (ankle carry, awkward clothing carry, super-stealth when my anti-gun sister is around, etc), so I've decided to start saving for one. Depending on when the Pico comes out, I might get that. I'm not really interested in something where the slide doesn't lock back after the last round, as I don't trust myself to count rounds in a self-defense situation. I like the idea of the Bodyguard, but not only do I find it silly to have a thumb safety along with a stiff trigger pull, I don't like finger grooves. My fingers are tiny and never fit, and get uncomfortable after a while. I might be able to deal with it, but I'd rather not have to. The P238 looks great, but I'm not going to want to switch from DA to SAO at random.

There were a few others I saw, but none really stood out and I don't remember them. Are there any others in that size range I'm missing? It's gotta be significantly smaller than my Shield, or it's not worth it for the purpose. I'd consider a smaller caliber if I fell in love with it, but after watching an episode of I Almost Got Away With It where I saw a murderer carjack a guy after being hit in the chest several times with a .22 at very close range, I'm not too eager to try that one! Is it better than nothing? Obviously. Just not my first choice!

I was all ready to go out and get a Pico after Shot Show...

...2013! Now the continued release delays has me fearing that Beretta is trying to fix a flawed design, so I will wait yet another year to see if any problems shake out.

In the meantime I would like something lighter to replace my Bersa Thunder 380CC. Glock 42, Taurus TCP, or even a Ruger LCR .357 would do.

The Taurus TCP locks back. I have seen it at my Gander Mountain with an 8-round magazine (6 is normally standard and you can get 7 with a pinky extension) and a Crimson Laser Guard for $370.

I must be too used to hearing about issues with Taurus semi-autos... completely forgot about the TCP. Quick google search showed several glowing reviews... might be worth looking at! Especially considering my budget... or current lack thereof...

Kahr P380 (nice version) or CW380 (economical version) are great pistols. No external safeties to fuss with, slide locks back, and they have very legit sights. I have Tricon night sights on my P380 which allow me to hold pretty tight groups up to 10 yards. A fantastic pistol well worth the few extra bucks.
