Beretta 92 Accuracy Mythbusting

It always surprises me to read here and there on various gun forums, etc. that the Beretta 92 is "inaccurate" to put it, well, politely. I've always enjoyed my Beretta 92A1 and have been shoot it well enough to suit me.

But after reading some trash talking about the Beretta's accuracy I made this video to bust the myth.

 
I'd be willing to be most of the rumors your hearing about its inaccuracy are coming from military personnel. I've shot several issued M9s and I also have a personal 92FS. The accuracy of my 92FS does not compare to the issued M9s. Whether that's because of the fact that M9s are produced in bulk on a government contract and the QC is lesser or just because of they way they are abused in the armory and by people not knowing what they're doing, idk. The first time I qualified with an M9 in the Marines we were running about 20 pistols and over two days of shooting had about 7 locking blocks break with I think speaks to the QC of government contracts. I also was having to use about an 8in 6 o'clock hold at 25 yards to hit roughly center. My 92fs has never had any breakages and shoots dead on at 25 yds, albeit it does jam more than most of my other pistols.
 
You do know that you called the M9 a "full frame revolver" in your video?!

I have the Beretta 9000S which is 9mm compact. It can take the 92 magazines as long as I add a spacer. This is the only Beretta I have and found it is also accurate. Whether it is as jreek mentioned, civilian being constructed better tnan the military versions, idk. I too have had some problems with my 9000S readily accepting anything I feed it. Particularly, Herters or steel case ammo has a higher degree of FTL/FTE than in my other firearms. In fact, I had a Hipoint 995TS rifle I would feed the junk the Beretta wouldn't digest and it fired any and all rounds.

What year was this?

Most Berettas require a different point of aim than folks are used to in a handgun.

Agreed. A lot of the M9s that are used in qualifying at CATM have been used/abused by hundreds, if not thousands of people. You're talking tens of thousands of rounds for some of them. Age is another consideration, some of the those CATM M9s might be the same age as you and I. We actually just had a JBCHS shooting competition here and the M9s were working great and pretty accurate. The local N. Charleston SWAT won though... bummer. I own two 92FSs and both are as accurate as I am and will shoot just about any brass cased FMJ I give it. I have had FTF with steel cased ammo though, so I just avoid it for the 92.
 
92FS Inox I carry is extremely accurate.

Perhaps the negative feedback is due to:
1: Fan boys of another brand
2: Used and abused old service qualification pistols
3: Operator error
