Becoming a Gunsmith

So I've been thinking for awhile about taking some classes online to get a general idea about becoming a hobbiest gunsmith. I want to get some opinions about taking an online course through PennFoster. It's about $800 for the course. Or is there another way to learn. Thanks

I don't know much about PennFoster and if you attend, hopefully you'll share your experience with us. I have a person that works on my firearms and he went to Pennsylvania Gunsmith School in Pittsburgh and liked it. I have no idea what that would have cost but I think it was over a year of on campus training. PennFoster being online seems like a good alternative for general skills attainment. Good luck. It sounds like a great way to become a hobbyist and maybe more.

I think it's always a good practice to take a course/class to learn. In the meantime, try the internet (You Tube) to learn all you can. I've been able to do most all customizing/action jobs, etc. on all of my pistols & rifles from viewing You Tube. Good luck & enjoy.
