He's not the first celebrity woman beater to win an award and he certainly won't be the last. Ever heard of James Brown, Bobby Brown, Mel Gibson, Nicolas Cage, and Charlie Sheen? All award-winning entertainers who beat their wives/girlfriends. And all of them (yes, even James Brown, despite being dead) are scum who happen to be very talented at their respective crafts. Is it right? I don't think it is; after all I'm not a celebrity but if I had done to a woman what they all did, I'd be sitting in a prison cell, and not going back to work like they did.

It's all about how much money he can put into the hands of the power brokers. Chris Brown, Mel Gibson, Roman Polanski.....people will put money and career advancement over "doing the right thing" every day of the week. I applaud those few celebs who do speak out against such behavior.

Where do you draw the line? Pete Rose will never be inducted into the hall of fame, should they make a rule that Chris Brown can never be awarded a Grammy? What other crimes do we include? Jim Morrison beat the living Hell out of Pamela Courson on multiple ocassions. Do we pull stars from the Hollywood Walk Of Fame?

IMO if oyu commit a crime it is handled in the courts and it stays in the courts

The Grammys are a privately run enterprise. Every year head honchos make decisions on who gets nominated and who doesn't. It is entirely under their control. No nomination = no Grammy, no performance at the Grammys. It's no different than baseball writers determining who gets into the MLB HOF.
