Be carefull of how you train and plan

festus

God Bless Our Troops!!!
Example...It is illegal for two or more people to train in paramilitary operations in FL. by state statute. This really puts a damper on do it yourself training...I would encourage everyone I know to seek professional training at an reputable shooting training center. These are not illegal. They are legit businesses and can help you be a better marksman.

Form communications groups with those that you trust. I regularly speak on the phone with another member of this forum in a neighboring city. this helps form a cohesive bond if TSHTF. This will also allow you to barter, and exchange ideas, plans and recipes for ranger cookies and ranger pudding.

Exchange addresses and form a mail round robin group if necessary. this will allow you to be comm up in a comm out environment...it will just be slow.

Get involved in your community...Volunteer firemen/women are always in need as are EMT's. Many local police departments have unpaid volunteer positions. This will give you the ability to learn and train with someone else picking up the dime. It also get you exposure to the community and provides you with rock solid credibility.

All these skills are good for a post fan environment!

Hey, Festus! There is an exception in that Florida law.

ALL :pleasantry: you need to do is get the local City/Town/County officials to get a signed application for training from the Governor for EACH and EVERY training session of paramilitary training you schedule.

Paintball is a sport. Take what you can from it.

That is what I was thinking. A bunch of guys could get together and have a paint ball game. A lot of "training" could be accomplished with everything but live fire practice. What is the old saying? "Necessity is the motherhood of invention".

I don't know if this qualifies as 'Hard Core' enough,
But we have hunting & fishing clubs up here. (Fur, Fin & Feather clubs)

Coon hunting clubs, bird hunting clubs, ect.

Guys that hunt rabbits, birds, coons, ect. together in all weather conditions, all types of terrain, with several different types of firearms, ect.

Gives us a tax exempt (no profit group) 'Club House' gets us out of the house,
Gives us a meeting place as well as 'Club' equipment pooled together,
Gives us a gun range locally that side steps some of the government/ insurance company red tape since it's non profit and EPA exempt in some cases,
The list goes on.

Good way to develop 'Bush Craft' & trade 'Hunting Craft' ideas,
Gets us together in the real world to learn communication,
Lets us get out as a group and explore the surrounding lands,
People seem to open up land to a group with a good reputation for stewarding the land they hunt...

I probably wouldn't show up in 'Uniform', but it would explain a lot of cammo and firearms coming and going, guys doing unorthodox range shooting and unorthodox firearms...

AR,
We have and could form more Hunting clubs here. We also have Gun clubs, Rod N Gun clubs, and Fishing clubs. As long as any training or class is not likely to be viewed as "paramilitary" we're OK.

This limits a lot of tactical classes, or practicing team efforts. Although I did hear of a group practicing "squad maneuvers" under the guise of drivers beating the bushes on a bird hunt...

Depends on how well trusted your participants are.
Squad maneuvers for recon are about the same thing as bird or rabbit hunting,
We use a lot of hand signals and 'Calls' for right and left maneuvers that mirror military training since most of our guys are former military,
Sweep right, sweep left, Hold, Cautious/Ready forward are all about the same as the military was.

Assaults on fixed positions would have to be done VERY carefully since that is obvious paramilitary training,

Discussions of ambush would have to be discussed in terms of 'Deer Blinds' and 'Target Areas' instead of calling it a 'Killing Zone' or 'Killing Box'...

I don't see why you couldn't do it, I just don't know WHY you think you would have to do it.

*IF* any occupation force were suicidal enough to try to invade,
The 'Survivors' will be the ones smart enough NOT to stand in the middle of the street as a 'Minute Man' and have a rally point for regroup, training and planning.

Every trained military mind knows wars are won on logistics, not 'Bravery'...
'Brave' people don't last long,
The careful thinker is the backbone of any military force or resistance force.

Would be nice to have a rally point that all of you have scouted, hunted, know where it's at and how to get there without being spotted as a building force,
Knowing where all your secondary rally points will be, having ingress and egress routes mapped in your heads, Ect.

That knowledge only comes from stomping boots on the ground ahead of time so you can take advantage of every scrap of cover, terrain, ect.

Plus, it would get a lot of 'Keyboard Commands' off their butts and into the field for some practical experience.
If you have to carry EVERYTHING you will need in a pack, or the equivalent weight in a pack around your local areas,
The they might get an idea of how difficult a 'Brushfire' war actually is!

Most of these guys might figure out where a SAW would be best placed to cover a specific area of approach,
But VERY FEW of them have considered covering that particular position...
If you are relying on one or two SAW positions to stop or slow down a larger, better equipped opposition force,
Then you had better be thinking AT LEAST three steps ahead!

Where is the cover going to be for the SAW position,
Where are the egress routes (Plural, you should have at least THREE potential egress routes when the position is no longer sustainable)

Where is the egress cover for that SAW going to be to cover them when it's time to bug out?

Where is the cover team's cover going to be?

Where is your rally point if it turns into a stampede?
Where is the secondary rally if the first one is compromised?

How is your radio/open communication skills?
Do you have 'Pet Names' for land marks, rally points, ect. that could be a 'Make Shift' code?
One place we go has an 'Official' name, we call it the 'Grinders' because of the grinding your suspension/frame does trying to get in and out...
Another spot is called 'Bass Hole' because a real azz hole caught a big bass there one time,
And although it has a 'Official' name, we've always called it 'Bass Hole'.

Do you have secondary gear stash points?

Someone's garage, barn, storage unit where you can put basic supplies long term?
Always good to have extra ponchos, web gear, canteens, basic cloths/cooking stuff, camp supplies,
Doesn't have to be anything expensive, can be 'Goodwill' silverware, old pots/pans the 'Little Woman' decided were 'Sticking' too much or were too ugly for her kitchen,
Old hunting cloths, surplus cammo, or what ever else you can put away for a few bucks...

I know you can't give credentials over the internet, but I've had situations where I've had to drop virtually ALL gear and bug out, and having a stash or two known only to you or your squad is a VERY good thing to have...

Like I said, anyone can learn basic squad maneuvers, that's not hard to teach very quickly,
It's the logistics that is hard to teach...

Personally, if a guy were 'Serious' about this, he would OWN a piece of land, or have a 'Stash'' on some 'Family' land or in Federal Reserve somewhere it's not going to be developed where he could reach in a day or two,
He would have basic items, knives, cooking/eating utensils, 'Bush Craft' items, cordage, tarps, blankets, cloths in that stash...
Water carrying/purification is always a consideration, so canteens are a MUST, even if it is recycled metal drink container from the local convenience store!
Anything beats NOTHING!

Forget about things like batteries, they will decay over time, and it might be 20 years before you need the stuff,
Radios, flashlights are OK, but skin the batteries out,
Seal up the cloths in vacuum pack bags, make sure the metal stuff is coated for long term storage, and leave it alone.

No sweat off your butt if you NEVER have to use it,
And it's there 'Just In Case', best $50 you ever spent if it helps you sleep better at night!

Thank you for your rambling monologue. The POINT of this thread was that local laws may require that some cover stories may be needed in order to do any training, not to see how much AR thinks he knows, or what he thinks we don't need to do.

I live 3k miles from you guys so my input might be worth what it cost. The paint ball idea might work out well or AirSoft. As far as paint ball and Air Soft are "games" true enough. It wasn't too many years ago the Steel Challange winner only shot Air Soft untill a couple of weeks before the match. Which means he beat the best pistol shooters in the World.

You can set up building clearing, team take downs etc using AS under the guise of a red team vs blue team "game".

All the training I've been exposed to started with the guns in their bags in the trucks. Walk throughs should be done without guns until it is second nature. Not to flag your team mate, firearm position room sectors, planning and communications what ever you think you and your local buddys are going to run into. You can do this with AS pretty easy because the oposing force isn't going to really kill you but they are going to shoot back. Many of the AS guys I've seen have web gear tac gear etc just AS quality stuff because of cost but you could use good gear. Match your AS guns to your real guns. That's about the best practice you'll get. You can learn basic marksmanship from a bench but the tactics take different training.

Start 3 gun competitions in your area and set up targets how you want to practice.

For what it's worth. I heard through the grapevine of a "patriot historical reenactment" group which may or may not have had ulterior motives.
