Barrel Length Restrictions for Concealed (or Open) Carry

Hope this is an adequate place for the topic, since I am wondering about both concealed and open carry.

I have been considering investing in a single shot revolver - I saw not too long ago a blogger mentioning a restriction on the barrel length of a handgun, but I have not been able to find anything else mentioning this one way or the other. Now, I know it would be more than a bit difficult to conceal carry a 10" barrel revolver for obvious reasons, but I was wondering if there are legal restrictions one way or the other, for both concealed and open carry.

I am currently living in Arizona, which I know has very lax gun laws. Is this (barrel length) a legal issue state by state, nationally regulated, or not at all.
Any insight would be very helpful, and thank you in advance!

I have not heard of a restriction on handgun barrel lengths. Like you said, it would be obviously difficult to conceal a 10" barrel handgun.I would think that you can carry any length that you feel comfortable with.

Usually, laws only place infringements on loaded vs unloaded firearms, with the exception of California, Illinois, NYC, and certain other places that have stricter infringements encompassing more, ie magazine capacity, threaded barrels, blah blah blah.

Here in WA, there is no infringement on maximum barrel length, if you have apermit you can open or conceal any handgun with any barrel length, we do have a minimum barrel length, as sbr's (<16") and sbs's (<18") are illegal, but those are long guns.

I can't imagine that there is any sort of barrel length restriction other than what you can comfortably conceal.

What is a single shot revolver? Do you mean single action? Just curious. Sounds like an oxymoron to me. No, this doesn't mean you are a moron.

IMHO, I think any handgun bought legally would be ok to carry regardless of the barrel length. Ease of concealment is the main concern. On some state's concealed carry permits there are requirements as to what you can carry whether pistol, revolver or derringer. A "Buntline Special" with it's 12" barrel is interesting, but would probably be a nightmare to conceal.

The only thing I can think about the barrel length is that you want enough length so the hollow point bullet will attain the velocity for it to do the job. I'd want at least 4" length of the barrel. One of my pistol is 3.86" which I think is close enough while my other pistol has 4".

Dangit, yes, I meant single action. As you said, a single shot revolver would defeat the revolving purpose of the gun.

Thanks for all the help! I just moved from IL, so I am new to the ability to conceal carry. :)
