A senior military official says the services will develop plans for allowing women to seek the combat positions. Some jobs may open as soon as this year. Assessments for others, such as special operations forces, including Navy SEALS and the Army's Delta Force, may take longer.

Alright, we've screwed up the men's heads, let's screw up the females, too. IMO, it's "all about the money." We simply cannot afford this all-volunteer military for much longer. Just way too expensive. I cannot believe that it will go well for the military.

I agree with nosreme's comments above 100% - but to me there is another issue:
Combat captured female soldiers and sailors will be abused, raped, sodomized, executed, mutilated, et al etc, and then photo - propagandized. YouTube of the slow torture, mutilation, beheading or ??? of women would have immeasurable impact here in the west. This will weaken any resolve we may have at home during combat operations. We're all aware that we have had female soldiers captured and killed but to date they have not been brutalized or used as examples of our enemies ruthlessness. There have been few from which our opponents could have used for this purpose as the two captured were released or liberated quickly. What if the enemy has captured 30 women combatants? IMHO, female combat troops is a really bad idea! If implemented, we will ultimately regret it.
Just my .02...

What happened to Pvt. Lynch should be proof enough of why not to allow women into combat. Her convoy was attacked, her weapon jammed, she was gang raped until her hips and back broke and then left to die. Luckily or maybe unluckily, she was found by friendlies. She has severe nerve damage and cannot feel vast areas of her body. Her face has more metal in it than Kanye West's, she is severely disabled and mentally unstable. Obama knows this is wrong and that is why he is doing it. He is trying to destroy us. He couldn't take our guns, so he is going to endanger our wives sisters and mothers as enthusiastically as he can.

I agree with nosreme about the PT differential.

You get what you ask for........personally I don't give a ****.

Why not? What if it was your wife, sister, daughter...etc? Would you still not care?

People choose their own destiny.
.
I could point you to a site that shows the obliterated bodies of amerikan women soldiers if you like.....not pretty.
.
I would not choose a wife who would join the mil......nor would I, nor have I, raise a daughter (I have 2 adult daughters) that would join.....improper and intolerable.
/.
Let them die with the men, let the men die with them, they will, by choice.
.
No, I just don't give a ****.

.
.
.
.
BTW, if you have not yet figured it out.......the mil is becoming a cast of sissies anyway, by design.......women........homos...........

Yes, we do. Some of us choose to earn the freedom we enjoy, some of us enjoy the freedoms that others paid for, and some choose to forfeit those freedoms for stuff or pride. Why would you show anyone that site? I do not have photographs of the death I have witnessed because it is wrong to keep it. Looking at it is disrespectful and offering it for political or personal reasons is exploitive.

The last part I quoted from you, which has a comma after it suggesting it as a singular statement, sums up you as a whole. You are unwilling to serve, or support a wife who chose to serve but yet you do want to keep your rights...you just don't think you should contribute. Oh well, your choice, but please thank my little cousin Eric for your right to be a mooch. He died fighting for it.

Just one question...my father is a huge liberal. Bloomsberg ain't got nothing on him. He disowned me for joining. I gave up a multimillion dollar inheritance to serve. I live in poverty, i might lose my house. Yet, I don't feel a single tinge of regret. People who join are independent thinkers like me. We have what is called a Force of Volunteers, highly motivated individuals who desire to fight and possibly die to protect freedom. What if your daughters change their minds and join? Will you just stop loving them? I can't wait until my kids are 18 so I can see what their choice will be. I will offer college money or a trip to the recruiter and a chance to earn it. My uncle gave me that same choice. He was Air Cav during Vietnam 68-70 and 71 when he lost his legs. Everything that wad important in life, I usually learned from him. Hooah!

Be a cold day in hell when I turn my back on my children, no matter what they become. I would love them even if they joined in with the Brady Bunch.

Also If this is implented then women will have to sign up for selective service. Right now they are exempt because the SCOUS has ruled that because they are banned for combat units that they don't have to sign up. This is will it will hit home with most people.

Well said. You can walk with your head up. More than many in this country who only "pay" lip service to anything.

As has been pointed out -- they will later DRAFT females as well as males. It won't matter how your daughters are raised or how your wife feels about it.

C.O. status for religious belief of non-resistance (if proven and granted) will keep them out of combat zones but not of being drafted in support roles.
C.O. status for religious belief of male/female role difference ain't happening (unless you're a burka clad American or have a famous relative with Hussain for a middle name).

I have no fear of my 50yr old wife joining the military.......or my daughters for that matter.......jeeeesh.
.
You are an independent thinker, huh? LOL Taking orders.........laughable.
.
I can't wait for bloodshed in this country......a time when each of us will choose a side.
.
At that time, those in uniform will be my enemy.
.
You served Satan himself. You served all that I detest.
.
Faux patriotism under what is now a false flag.
.
And you are the independent thinker...............

The interjection of females into the daily "Active Duty" has done nothing but exasperated negative behavior in the military. Floating brothels (NAVY), Red Light districts in camps (ARMY), special areas for convorting for the troops (Leg shavers, Air Force). Been there, done that, and have been negatively impacted by a E-6 who was doing an E4 as I was a E5. I was told explicitly that I DID NOT HAVE ANY AUTHORITY to correct and "snap up" the E4. Yea right, Did it anyway and was grabbed up my my E8 that swore "We do not have a problem" I explained the E6 was doing the E4 and I was the only one getting screwed with all the work. Somebody again tell me how this is supposed to work?
As for women on the line.............Ain't got the balls, ain't got the fortitude. Sorry ladies. Just ain't right IMHO. ( And don't get me started on Gays /Lesbians)

Jibberish. I do not understand this entitlement thing...as an adopted first generation American, maybe I see things differently, I guess. I'm damn lucky I wasn't born where I was probably conceived.

World War II

Look at it this way. If females had been serving in that war like they are doing now, these are the kinds of things they would be routinely doing
  • Piloting aircraft
  • Acting as Bombardiers, Radio Operators, Engineers
  • Powered turret gunners
  • Higgins boat operators
  • Deck and gun crews on ships
  • Medics/corpsmen/Doctors
  • Truck Drivers
  • MPs

As part of the 101st, they would have been in the fox holes shooting at the Germans at Bastogne, Normandy and Market Garden.
