Ballpark Stores Prevent Legal Concealed Carry

Ballpark Stores have signage saying it is a "Weapons Free Environment". Look for it, it may not be on the door. It goes so far as to say weapons are not allowed even in vehicles (although it is worded poorly). Even LEO's can't carry off-duty!!

I wrote to the president, no response!

Ballpark Stores Home

Won't be going there any time soon! Your thoughts? :agree:

so folks can have bats but not guns
i'd ask them if they were giving away free weapons

or walk up with a bat and ask if that's considered a 'weapon'
anti gun morons need to wake up do their homework and realize where guns are banned or outlawed only outlaws will have guns
their ignorance is astounding

ps what is a 'ballpark' store anyways?

oh duh i just checked the link in the topic when i read it i thought it was like the ballpark stores/concession stores at the baseball field parks not a convenient store type thing
lolz

but no wonder it's a crown corporation exxon and bp no wonder they don't want us to have guns or the right to protect ourselves it's part of the sick system

My thoughts are simple.

1. Their store, their rules. Although open to the public they are not public places (long ago established by the courts). They are private properties owned and operated by a corporation. They have the right to set policy and enforce it under threat of criminal trespass. No different than your home or place of business. Anyone who doesn't like it can shop elsewhere. I believe the greater right is of a property owner to give anyone the boot, provided it's not a discriminatory practice. There is no law prohibiting discrimination against gun owners. You also have no right to freedom of speech there, or of freedom to peacefully assemble, to campaign for office, etc.
2. None of these companies care about letters regarding firearms policies. While there may be strength in numbers they certainly don't care if groups of gun owners periodically threaten to boycott their business. It's just not enough loss of business to change the policy of a large, franchised company.

Agree BC1, it is private property. The only challenge is the sign is well onto the property on the front of the building, and it bans guns even in vehicles. So to me, it only means stay away. We do not need to get into 2nd Amendment or CHP issues.

i don't use bp or exxon gas anyways but next time i stop at shell gas station i will look for a no gun sign
how would they know if you have a gun in your vehicle anyway

eagleeyes, they wouldn't. But, under NC law, the sign theoretically carries the weight of law. If you therefore ever had to use it for self defense, you would then be a criminal.

I just viewed their website ... 14 locations.

I am sure we can do without 14 gas stations ...

Signs don't matter at all. If the property owner decides he doesn't want you there for any non-discriminatory reason, you're gone. Thus signs are a joke. You have no second amendment rights and your CHP have no weight of law on private property. They are not ever an issue. You have no right to remain armed on my private property.
