backup gun

I'm looking for a 9mm as a backup gun , I have an M&P 40 that I really like so not sure if I want to go to a different brand . Any suggestions .

Might want to think maybe the M & P 40 Shield. You would have the same ammo type for both the main and back up. Just my 2 cents

The M&P 9 Shield is there too, but I am not sure if you want to carry a M&P Shield as a BUG in addition to an M&P.

The Kahr PM9 (or its cheaper version, the CM9) is probably the smallest 9 mm you can get. This would be a pocket carry option and recoil would be "stout", considering its loaded weight of just under 20 ounces.

I bought a Beretta Nano as a BUG but after I got it I liked it so well that now its my EDC. Check it out:dirol:

Just my two cents I don't like sub compact guns they are to small for my hands. So I got a M&p compact 9 mm shoots and feels great in the hand. I like you carry a full size M&p 40

Howdy,

I'll look at this from a different point of view:

Why, as a civilian with a CCW permit do you feel the need to carry a backup gun when there's a 99.99% chance that you can CCW for 50 years and never need your handgun.

I probably CCW for a different reason than most people on this forum.

The reason I CCW is because I can. The USC and the State of Arkansss says that I can carry a handgun on or about my person so, being a hardcore gun nut, I do.

I'm not worried about being robbed, carjacked, mugged, etc. so I carry because I want to and because I can.

Pretty simple.

Back to the OP question: I have a Kel-Tek PF-9 9mm that I've fired over 1,500rds through it without a hiccup and if I wanted a small BUG it would be my 1st pick because it is very small, thin, lightweight and even though I'm not a 9mm fan it has more stopping power than a 32, 380 or stubnose .38.

Paul

I also carry because I can and not because I feel endangered. I might need it some day, but I haven't needed it in the last 50 years and I hope I never will.

But my only back up guns are sitting in the safe in case I want to carry something different that day.

My vote is for the Kimber Solo in stainless.
