Your Thoughts

“If - When” they bring background checks in for everyone who purchases a gun,would/should your CCW cover you e.g. buying at a show, have no waiting time, as you all know the paper work,Checks, fingers prints that you have to submit it get it should put you in front of the line compared to Mr/Mrs Smith who have not gone through this process.

Cheers
Dave

who knows??? like all democrap BS you are going to have to wait until the bill passes until we learn what is in it

I don't think that will work because they will want to be sure you haven't done anything since the CCL was originally obtained. You may have done something insane since you had your background check for the CCL and kept the card.

I'm pretty sure it's a state thing. If I remember right, NE has a deal with the ATF that their Handgun Purchase Permit or a CCL is all that's needed since you had to go through the checks to get it. Could be wrong, but when I picked up my gun in Nov, the only paperwork was the transfer form (and writing a check). No waiting, not for a moment.

A state issued Carry License does not mean squat now when it comes to filling out Federal purchase forms or for background checks in Indiana....it won't mean anything when they force background checks at private sales either.....

So, what makes you believe that the purpose for a registry is to make your life easier? Your CCW, 4473, DL that flags you as as having firearms already places you in the status of being watched more closely then those who actually commit crimes. Yet does nothing to prevent it...

When they decide to lock us down, the criminals will have the distinct advantage because they know being open and transparent is a special kind of stupid.

They will have to cave in on private sales. There is no way they could enforce it.

That's not true and is the issue we in Colorado have with the bill requiring all private sales to obtain a background check for the buyer. It will lead to gun registration. That is the only way to enforce it.

I have a ccw in Virginia which is good for 5 years. During that 5 years I could be arrested for a violent felony, convicted of a violent felony, have numerous restraining orders brought against me, become a spouse beater, become a chronic alcoholic with several DWI convictions, and the list goes on and on. I am supposed to surrender my ccw to the court if any of those previous mentioned events occur...but suppose I don't. A ccw is not prima facia evidence that I am not a prohibited person, it merely means at the time my application was processed I was not considered a prohibited person. A ccw does not mean the holder is not a dangerous person either. That is why it should never be considered a bypass of the ncis check system.

I'm sure that universal background checks will make everyone so much safer and will prevent any criminal or crazy person from buying a gun because with the new law even some dude illegally selling guns out of the trunk of his car at midnight in the parking lot of a bar is going to run a background check on the gangbanger that is buying a gun.

end sarcasm

Yeah, just like it's illegal to sale a gun to a convict but it happens every day. So an unenforceable law can still be passed. During this season of the year when Congress and the State Congress are in a big hurry to pass or at least get their bills filed there are all kinds bills that me, you and everyone else knows that theres not a change in he!! they could be enforced.
Just the nature of them congress critters! To quote another forum poster.

Now I'm not a lawyer, but I do play one on TV. (no I don't) I would think most of those, if not all, would show up on their computers pretty fast. If charges filed and upon conviction their CCW terminated.
Please correct me if this is wrong.

You are correct. And in some States the cop who pulled you over for a traffic violation already did a computer check on the license/owner of the car and knows if they have a carry permit... and the current status of that permit... before he even gets out of the patrol car to approach the driver.

Idaho is the same DL and CCW have the same number
