Do you carry a back-up firearm for concealed carry??? If so, where do you carry it??? Is it the same firearm as primary used for concealed carry???

No, I don't. We each have to go with the level of protection we feel the need for. The chances are actually pretty slight that l'll ever need my concealed gun. The chances that I'll ever need TWO guns are even smaller. If I actually thought I'd likely need a firearm, I wouldn't be carrying a pistol to start with. Its possible, although unlikely, that I'll need a firearm in an emergency. I am prepared for that emergency should it arise. I personally think the chances that I'd ever need two guns is so insignificantly small that to me its not worth the trouble. Your mileage may vary.

Wow, question marks! lol

It's not bad to have a backup firearm... I don't. The main advantage, I think, is that if your first gun malfunctions, or you need to reload (reload seems silly, but that's what my CHP instructor said... Insight anyone?), it can be quicker to drop that one and grab a second gun rather than trying to clear malfunctions. Use good ammo, and carry one in the chamber (so at least the first one will go bang) is my idea. Besides, I haven't any room on me for a second gun. Hard enough to conceal one! If I ever get a tiny pocket gun I could probably do ankle...

Oh, and I think the back up is usually smaller than the primary. But you'd have to ask someone who actually does it to know for sure.

My choice is a backup magazine for whatever I'm carrying. I have a Crossbreed IWB on the right and a Bianchi mag holster on the left.

Sometimes I do, most times I don't. If you think you might need a gun, you should carry two. If you don't think you might need a gun, you should carry at least one. The so called "New York reload" is the second gun and is the fastest and gives you the most reliability.

I do not carry a BUG, I usually carry an extra mag. my 5.7 is 20 +1 with another 20. 41 rounds should usually be enough. I am not a leo or superhero, I do not go looking for trouble nor would I intervene if I stubbled upon trouble. I carry to protect myself and my loved ones and maybe a few friends who might be with me at any given time.

carry a .357 6 shot revolver as primary, 8+1 .25ACP as back up usually in my boot but it's small enough to put just about anywhere.

in your boot? have you ever trained with it? how good do you think you'd be getting that thing barking under stress?

I don't always carry a BUG, but when I do, I carry a Keltec P9 in a smart carry holster in front, concealed .40 on the side in versa carry.

I do, but have only been ccw for a few weeks.
S&W M&P 9mm compact on strong side iwb
S&W Bodyguard 380 in pocket holster on weak side (though I would get the Ruger LCP if I did it over again)

Sometimes if the primary carry is a problem, I leave home with just the pocket gun on the strong side

That's why it's a backup piece. Not much different than an ankle holster, it clips onto the side of the boot shaft. Not the optimal place to carry but it sure would beat calling the bad guy names instead. If I'm wearing jeans or shorts, it's in my pocket.

so your answer is no, you've never trained getting it from your boot to a ready for action mode, do yourself a favor and get some range time in accessing and shooting the BUG in the boot, it might change your view of carrying like that

I do not carry a bug as I don't think I will ever need one. Police should carry one as they get in physical fights and could possibly lose their weapon to the bad guy. I am not going to get in a physical fight with anyone at my age or try to run down a bad guy.

Do you always jump to conclusions like that? I've got many, many hours and rounds on every firearm I own, not that it's an of your business. The original thread was do you carry a BUG, what and where, not Tom's looking for a new mother, any takers? Too many know it alls show up on this forum, take a break, go put some holes in the air or something. Geez

when you evade giving an answer to direct and specific question, yes I jump to my own conclusions. here's some more from a "know it all" your gun in your boot is USELESS

Thanx Mommy...now go nurse someone else who cares what you think or you can try to impress with your wealth of knowledge.

Always an spare magazine, sometimes a BUG. And yes I regularly practice reloads and accessing the BUG, as well as practice with both on the range.

I don't live in a dangerous area, but I carry a gun. Why? because you never know... Since the theory that if you might need a gun your should carry 2 makes sense, I carry 2. One is IWB, the other is pocket. If I'm wearing cargo shorts with loose pockets, the BUG is actually a quicker draw in most circumstances, since you can get a drawing grip and be ready without breaking any laws or alerting anyone. If I make a quick run to the store I sometimes just have the BUG, since it is in my pocket 100% of the time while awake. If I am going to be gone all day I strap on both, and have an extra mag for both.
