Back ground checks?

Gun grabbers are always screaming for stiffer back ground checks. A guy I know turned in his CHL in NC, receives a call saying he needs a letter from his town in NY saying he was not arrested or charged for any crime. BG check showed he was detained at age 18 in 1972 but no record of arrest or conviction. How much more of a BG check do you need?

Background checks are not as intrusive as psychological evaluations some states require. You can buy criminal records online these day on people you barely know.....

Background checks have no effect on crime rates:

"Control and treatment states had the same gun homicide rates before and after the Brady law passed," Cook said. "It made no discernable difference. There is no statistically significant effect." Study Shows Brady Bill Had No Impact on Gun Homicides

“Half a century of strict controls...has ended, perversely, with a far greater use of [handguns] in crime than ever before.” 51 The study also states that:

No matter how one approaches the figures, one is forced to the rather startling conclusion that the use of firearms in crime was very much less [in England before 1920] when there were no controls of any sort and when anyone, con ‐ victed criminal or lunatic, could buy any type of firearm without restriction. Gun grabbers won't be happy until all guns are out of private hands. Once they ware out the back ground check demand they will come up with another demand.
