B&E in Texas: exciting but short career

not in Texas! In Texas you cannot be sued in a civil court for a self defense shooting. Unless you are convicted on criminal charges you're protected. As the article says local police didn't file charges so the case went to a grand jury. Generally the grand jury won't indict if local LE didn't file charges unless there's something fishy like obviously suspicious circumstances and the shooter is the police chief's brother or the like.
 
Those people will never learn. If you want to go around breaking into peoples homes, expect to have your ass handed to you at some point. Or to put it more simply, they got what they deserved.
