Auto Taurus Slim

I have an Auto 9mm Taurus Slim...and not as agile as I once was, is there any way to 'easily arm/cock' the auto gun? Should I just keep exercising /pulling the slide? will it eventually become easier? tx

You mean the 709 Slim? Is it new? They usually loosen up pretty quick. Think of it as a good excuse to get out to the range more often. :)

How do you rack the slide? Are you grabbing it between thumb and forefinger (using jus tthe thumb and forefinger)?
Or grabbing the whole thing using an overhand grip?
(thumb/forefinger toward the rear of slide, pinky finger toward the muzzle end of the slide)

Check me if I am wrong about the workings of this auto and the fact that you have a holster but just have a cartridge in the chamber. Many, if not most, do exactly that. As the saying goes--"time is of the essence" and when we are talking seconds, if not one second, cocking an auto means a problem for a CC defender and, in your case, a real problem.

I have 709 Slim it started out hard rack, but has gotten easier. I carry 8 rounds so I don't need to rack if I need it. Only rack at the range.

jamsit ..
i am 70 yrs old so i too am not as agile as i once was .. i use the "push pull" method .. i use my strong hand to push with, while pulling with my weak hand .. i use my whole hand to pull with, not just using 2 fingers .. the slide will wear in and it will become easier and you will be come stronger using this method ..

Tx for the quick responses...
1) auto is relatively new... ~1yr real time.. ~3mos actual use time...
2) when I try to rack w/left thumb & forefinger, only get to ~3" back...
3) when I rack w/ 'left hand pull to rear' method, it's fine..
Guess I just have to keep exercising the auto & me... Tx again..

hold the slide with your whole hand and push the grip with your strong hand , it is easier to push than it is to pull
