The US Intelligence community is warning of possible ISIS attacks on the United States during the upcoming Independence Day (4th of July) weekend.

According to NBC News:
U.S. intelligence and law enforcement authorities share a growing concern of an ISIS-inspired attack in the country through the July 4 weekend, sources told NBC News.
.
The threat “is based on both intelligence and analysis,” the intelligence and law enforcement sources said, declining to go into detail.
.
The intelligence came to light prior to Friday’s seemingly coordinated ISIS attacks that killed over 150 people on three different continents.
.
Attacks were carried out nearly simultaneously in France, Tunisia and Kuwait. The attacks almost exclusively targeted westerners and Shia Muslims (ISIS is primarily made up of Sunni Muslims).

Governments control citizens through fear. Why? Because it works.

Remember the Threat Level scale that appeared shortly after 9/11? What was it's purpose? To turn what was the home of the brave into a collection of quaking cowards looking to the government to protect them. What is the end goal you ask? Because scared people will willing surrender their rights and freedoms for a false sense of security.

Is there an actual threat, or is this just more fear propaganda? Given our governments track record under both Bush and Obama, and the fact nothing has happened in this country in 14 years of being told to be afraid, I am very suspect of this latest scare tactic.

Will I be armed, of course, just like every other day, for the reality is that a mentally deranged loon or some punk that wants my car or some druggie desperate for more drugs is an actual threat.

Let's bring back the old Threat Level scale, but with updated descriptions, solely for accuracy:

If a radicalized Muslim,or whatever, beheads someone in some town in the name of Allah; if some radicalized idiot tries to kill a policeman with a hatchet in New York; if two radicalized Muslims try to assassinate Pamela Gellar because she has offended Muhammad or if such actions spring up all over the country, does that mean that we shouldn't be cautious at a time of the year when large groups of people will be out and about? I have no intention of panicing because like XD, I will be armed as a precautionary measure against everyday problems. Yet, I will also be a little extra cautious because we have a mosque and small Muslim population here and are on a major highway system leading to and from Florida. My wife and I ate at a local eatery and sat next to three Palestinians from Jerusalem and we seem them quite frequently there. Nothing there on the surface but, nowadays one can never be sure what is going to happen. Extra caution doesn't cost me anything but may save me a lot.
