Aurora. I'm the insensitive one! Here come the screams!

Well you bring a very valid point, his attack was planned out. But, no citizen with a CCW carrying that night would have been a match for the fire power used.

No, but I'm sure if someone was able and carrying, it would have put a major hitch in his plans. It's amazing how much of a deterrent return fire can be.

That's easy to say now with hindsight, since everyone now knows he was just a grad school kid with no practical experience with firearms.

Had he been a rag turbanned gihadist, then getting his attention would only have brought the full weight and fury of his AR or shotgun directly upon you. You would have had to prudently consider this, before breaking cover.

Even as a snotty nosed grad school kid, he still seemed to have a death wish while his guns were still blazing, and not yet jammed, so he could have trained his AR, shotgun, or glock on you still. And with his body armor, and your movie attire, you would have been more like a block of ballistic jelly, compared to him all dressed up in his body armor with noplace to go.

If it weren't for the fact that he is a criminal crazy, some would consider him a tactical genus. He had darned near every aspect worked out for his assault. I don't want to glorify this bastard in any way but you have to admire the planning and execution that went into this heinous assault.
This is precisely the mentality that is going to trigger the copycats now.

I don't see anything worth admiring. Holmes reads a lot, and very fast, with keen understanding.

What his booklearning could not teach him however was experience. He had no experience choosing good weapons, so he chose a somewhat inferior AR.

He had not experience clearing jammed weapons, so the moment his jammed he threw it away like a toy he was bored with.

Then like the inexperienced coward that he is, he just gave up, as if to say, don't shoot me I give up.

Unarmed civilians are easy targets. Nothing bold in an attack like that at all.

If he had wanted to be bold, he should have joined the military and tried to survive basic training. That's not so easy. That then would deserve admiring.

0) I find it interesting that someone with no tactical background whatsoever would come up with all of this on his own.

1) I find it interesting that this happened just a week before the UN ATT is due to be signed by the current communist government.

2) I find it interesting that he was able to "kick in" a steel door in a steel frame that only opens outwards.

3) I find it interesting that he gave up without resistance (most nutbags off themselves as the cops start closing in).

I've seen some news agencies claiming he got his "arsenal" mail-order, when in fact you have to go through a local FFL to acquire a weapon, even if it's mail-order. At that point, the FBI knows you have the gun.

I think I heard he used an AK, and the size of the magazine has been mentioned several times, so get ready for

0) a call to ban "hi-capacity" magazines - again

1) a call to ban the ability of getting ammo online and/or in quantities greater than some ridiculously small number, like 5 or 10.

2) a call to prohibit owning more than a single firearm

Finally, this will be a catalyst for liberals and tree huggers to encourage (or embolden) Obama to sign the ATT.

Life for responsible, sane Americans is about to get a whole lot tougher because of this.

Even if any counterattack was completely ineffective we all still have the right to go out fighting instead of cowering under a chair or being shot in the back as we try to run away. Not that running or hiding aren't valid responses, they are actions that have saved lives on many occasions.

Wearing body armor tells you this guy did not want to die. So there is a chance that he may have retreated sooner if someone had fired at him since he obviously had self preservation in mind. This is actually pretty surprising considering the fact that most mass murderers or spree killers kill themselves or put themselves in a position to be killed by the cops.

Cowering under a chair [sic; seat] was the best strategy for staying alive. He was shooting at everyone that moved or got his attention.

Sometimes you can get the bear, and sometimes the bear can get you. It is important to know the difference when.

Good point, that is obviously going to be the next FBI question, whether he did cook it up on his own, or had help.

That's how the rest of McVeigh's gang was found as well, by tracing back from the bomber, to everyone that could have helped him.

Let the show go on.

He used an AR btw, not an AK. Had he used an AK it would have all been much worse.

Note also that Romney's record on guns is actually much more shameful than Obama. Obama has done nothing in the way of guns at all.

Although NYC Mayor Bloomberg (Rep/Dem turncoat) is now calling on Obama and Romney to "do something" about the proliferation of "assault weapons." And Rupert Murdoch agrees with him. That's not a surprise either, in the wake of the nations "worst" (most victims injured) shooting incident.

The distance between genius and insanity is measured by success.... or something like that.

Either way, the guy(if guilty) should fry. To me, you don't kill children and live.... nope.

He was methodical and maniacal in the execution of the plan.

I know, to some I'm a sick bastard for thinking so but get past the emotion and look at the reality of it all. There was some serious planning going on.

Terrorists are known for their 'tactical genius'.
This lowlife is a 'Domestic Terrorist' plain and simple.

Call it what it is, Domestic terrorism. If he was Muslim that's exactly what the main stream media would be screaming. He went into a large gathering of people that expected to be safe. He expected to kill and injury as many people as he could for no apparent reason. He is a domestic terrorist, case closed.
