Assault Rifle VS Sporting Rifle

But it makes no difference to those putting forth the gun restriction laws.

It's not what it does, it's how scary and evil it looks!

Consider that the tacticool version of the Ruger Min-14 is on DiFi's ban list, but a ranch model is not. The only difference between the two is strictly cosmetic - one looks evil, one doesn't.

Remember, it's not about guns, it's about control! Don't try to confuse the gun-grabbers with facts, that only makes their heads explode.

sdprof has it right. This is about controlling people and the exercise of government power and authority. The argument is really about how much power the individual citizen, or groups of citizens, should be allowed to have with respect to the government. The statist argument is that you should have little or none. The argument is couched in terms of public safety, which is historically how despots have always couched the argument, going back at least as far as ancient Greece.

Good video but with at least one glaring innaccuracy:

At the :34 second mark the guy says "..assault rifles were banned in 1986.."

The truth is that ownership of these rifles is heavily restricted but certainly not banned.

If we are to be accurate in our definition of assault rifles, let's also be accurate in their ability to be owned.
