Personally, I think its the New Yorkers fault for having these ignorant people in office. Its a result of ignorant voters casting straight ticket votes and not paying attention to who stands for what. People dont pay attention for who theyre voting for any longer, they cast Republican or Democrat straight ticket only, hence a reason why Fienstein has stayed in office for so long, how some of the congress or senators stay in office, also capped by how the Media doesnt make a big deal out of it like they do with the Presidential election, Alot of people believe they only have to vote 1 or 2 times every 4 or 5 years (Governor, President and if you live in a City, Mayor) So I dont feel too bad for the City or State of New York. Wake up people, vote, make your voice heard, attend city council meetings, let them hear your voice or at least let them know theyll be voted out...
Youd figure these ignorant politicians would have more important things to vote on like a budget, instead of Police descriptions and big gulps. Personally sounds to me; 1.) a few of their councilmen have a bit of a health nut type idea, ie the ban on big gulps, and now, 2.) one of them probably got arrested due to a description put out by police. They might as well fire all of their cops if this law passes, which is HIGHLY doubtful that it will.

Actually the way I read it, it's an effort to curb Bloomy's "Stop and Frisk." Which, if you're familiar with, basically stomps on the 4th Amendment anyway. Doesn't appear to prevent the sharing of information for someone who is suspect of committing a crime.

The bill probably would not have come to pass if Bloomy weren't such a king wannabe fool.

You have to understand the demographics of NY State... the majority of the state is rural in character....hard working, self reliant conservatives going to work every day supporting their families, teaching them morals and ethics and trying to do the right thing. Unfortunately, the population base is concentrated in two or three "major metropolitan areas"...NYC, Buffalo & Rochester. Here is where the liberal Taxers & Spenders live (translation...those living on other people's dime live). At election time, all they have to doe is say one thing..."they want to take your benefits away"....it's over.
Combine that with the most Unionized state with bloated rolls of State, County and Local government workers (Govt is the largest employer in the state), and you now have the reason that the Dems have a "lock" on the entire state.

The Libs even arrange for buses to pick up their voters, give incentives such as free cigarettes, etc, and transport them to the polls.

The choice is then boiled down to one choice for most of 'those people'.... Do you want to keep Santa Clause in office or vote him out...if you vote him out, you have to be YOUR OWN Santa. Keep getting the goodies....or provide for yourself!!! Hmmm, what a choice!!!

The people spending other people's money will always vote to keep spending other people's money....until it runs out...then they steal it.
The liberal state has slowly created this mess over generations. What was originally thought of as a 'safety net' has become a hammock. It's going to take a lot more time to fix it.

By the way, did you notice I did not profile anyone? The takers are not limited to any particular demographic group.

Finally, please don't start with the "just leave NY" comments...it's not that easy to just pick up and leave...but the plans are being made at this time and will likely be executed in a couple years.
