Arthritic hands & shooting

My wife is getting arthritis in her hands. She is a little lady and loves to shoot. Is there any suggestions on something she can still shoot?

Do you mean just shooting or for self defense. The 25 auto I believe as about the lowest amount of recoil but I sure wouldn't use it for self defense. Sorry but for self defense I can't think of anything.

Phoenix HP22 or Walther P22.

Phoenix is smoother corners/edges and nicer for pocket carry. Can be carried w/ the 4" barrel for little less recoil. Great little shooter.

Walther is junk until 200 round count, then eats anything and is easily suppressed w/ a cheap adapter...

A 22 semiauto pistol is my suggestion. There is an attachment for the Ruger pistols that allows activating the slide with the heel of the hand instead of gripping with sore fingers. "Arthur"(itus) has not been good to me either but not to the point of interferring significantly with my shooting.

I second the phoenix hp22. small, no recoil, pulling the slide back isnt bad, its even easier cocking the hammer first and they only run about 200 bucks. Great little gun for the money

I have arthritis in both my thumbs. The grip is the most important aspect of keeping the hands from being hammered, so look for some over sized grips and or shooting gloves that have gel pads in the pals. Also, .380 is a good caliber that is not to hard on the hands and still a good defensive round.

I suggest you take a look at the Taurus PT22, Beretta model 21, or even the Beretta Tomcat. All of these are of the "tip-up" barrel style easily allowing the shooter to place a round in the chamber without having to operate the slide.

Lots of good suggestions here, especially the tip-up barrels. There are plenty of light weight .22's out there. Look at the Ruger Bearcat.
