Army veteran banned from daughter’s school after posting picture of weapons permit

I saw that this morning. I couldn't believe it either. She assumed that it was simply because she was a veteran and had a gun. Dangerous combination in some people's small liberal minds.

Seriously? I thought Georgia was a more gun friendly state. This sounds like something that might happen in New York or California. It is an unacceptable infringement of her rights and free speech. The disturbing thing is that her child has transferred which makes following up with legal recourse more difficult.

Vets are terrorists! We are terrorists! If you breathe, you are a terrorist!

Unbelievable. I'm sending a polite, yet to the point message.

I will say, I would never want to post any form of ID online, and definitely not my permit (even with info blurred... though next time someone shares pictures of their ultrasounds, bet they forgot to take off their SSN!). Can't blame her for being excited, though! And obviously the school was way out of line.

1. What I don't understand is that the woman said she is a private person yet posts an image of her CCW. Still scratching my head over that one and # 2, I don't believe the principles true motive in this case was to protect the kids and faculty. Now if the principle stated that she was a Obama loving liberal and guns are evil and we must make examples of everyone that owns a gun by any means possible, that I could believe.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Doesn't sound like something you'd expect to happen in Georgia. Sure, maybe a misguided, liberal principal to utter such incredible stupidity, but a Georgia cop to go along with her to boot? Amazing. I wonder if maybe she should have risked arrest. I mean, is it really criminal trespassing to be in a place where someone doesn't want you because they're suffering from paranoid delusions that are no fault of your own?

For anyone that wishes to contact the principal, here you go:

McBean Elementary School - Dr. Janina Dallas

Also, note the personal message: " I am always available to meet with you." I call BS on that!!

Message just sent to her. Ill send another as I know I have missed many points, however, Ill see what kind of response if any she has for me =]

"I am a former Infantrymen from the United States Army. After seeing the story on a website, I have to say, serving my country has been my greatest honor. That being said, I pitty people such as yourself to criminally trespass a veteran of our great Nation over a Concealed Weapons Permit. That being said, being afraid of someone who legally carries a firearm, concealed makes as much sense of being afraid of the Police for being in uniform and carrying a weapon. Its idiotic and a misguided fear.
That being said, making a parents personal life a factor in trespassing someone who has done nothing wrong is outright wrong in itself. I am sure you teach your children common core standards, well let me share the Army common core standards with you. L D R S H I P [Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity & Personal Courage] all of which I feel you lack due to your actions against one of my sisters in uniform.
I would ask that you resign your position as you show no real leadership capabilities. You have acted irrationally and without cause. You say you do it for fear of safety for your students, which is a misguided, generic response. Weve seen that Pistol Free Zones offer no safety in schools, weve seen mass killings by persons not legally able to carry a weapon, and have yet to see a senseless mass killing by a responsible law abiding weapon permit holder. Need I remind you of our Constitution? I am sure you have not read it, nor understand it.
I am ashamed to call you a fellow American, and Pray for the well being of the children under your supervision, as I am sure they will need it. Liberal minded people like you should be ashamed of yourselves. Youre better suited for Communist China or Nazi Germany.

Have a great day. I encourage you to make a public Apology as I am sure you will be receiving many e mails from many people. You were wrong, put your big girl panties on and admit it.

I see people post pictures of their dog tags all time, SSN and all. Not too bright. Luckily the military is transition away from putting SSNs on tags.

I don't engage in FB, Twitter, PinIt, etc. etc. etc.

I've found by looking over my wife's shoulder while she's on it (rolls eyes) that most of the people posting are self-absorbed, entitled types who think their life is so worthwhile that everyone should read about them.

Yes, it's probably a good means to keep in touch with family and such, but I've seen families get into great arguments because things are taken out of context and then they copy and paste what someone said three years ago, blah blah blah. I don't need it. Also, they have this new invention of keeping in touch with family members where you can actually HEAR what they are posting, it's called the phone. I use that a lot to keep in touch with people I want to hear from.

Just a guess here but I'm betting that when all those emails start rolling in this woman will just tighten up her spam filters and continue on with life.

I've also gotta ask why in the hell would you post a picture of your permit on line?

That is EXACTLY what people do on Facebook. I have it because my sister is a novelty performer and posts all kinds of amazing pictures of her doing really cool things. Plus, it's a good way to talk to my husband for free. And keep "in touch" with the relatives I don't actually want to talk to!

The positive side of this, she transfered her daughter! Hopefully she is in a better school!

Sucks for the kid, though... New teachers, new friends, new halls to get lost in... can be pretty stressful.

These no-gun policies really only wind up hurting the kids, and this is a rather unexpected way for that to happen. Hopefully this one doesn't wind up feeling like a pawn to make a statement with, even though it's most likely simply a mother trying to get her kid in the safest environment possible.

This is outrageous to me it sounds like the principal has some problems. She is suppose to be a role model for children and is being prejudice towards veterans and responsible gun owners. To me it sounds like the principal has nothing better to do than play on social media sites and cause problems for people she dislikes.

That's the only reason I have a Facebook page too. Much of my family uses FB to keep in touch. My page isn't public though. Only family and a few friends have access, and I don't put much stuff there anyway. I get all manner of messages from them asking why I don't have my birthday or other personal info in my profile. I have developed varying ways of politely responding, "Because I'm not stupid."

Yep. I've gone through every privacy setting they have. Highly irritating that they got rid of the option to set the profile to "unsearchable." I liked not existing. Luckily for me, I share the same name as an obscure Finnish actor so if you look for me, you'll generally find him. No, I'm won't tell you who it is, cause I'm not stupid either!

The principal holds a doctorate. This proves education does not erase "learned ignorance" from some types. It appears the principal has suffered irreversible brain damage from a liberal/progressive education at the hands of socialist spewing professors.

It pains me that there are so many ignorant/blind citizens in education.

I appreciate ALL the dedicated teachers with a clear mind and a head on their shoulders. What a thankless job they have!

Having to tolerate socialist indoctrinated teachers (dictators) must be a bitter disappointment for those teachers who have duty and honor, who remember what America is really about, and teach from that exemplary knowledge of history and truth.

It is a shame that this criminal administration we have would label such teachers, "terrorists".

What's wrong is right, and what's right is wrong. How did we get here so quickly?
