Armed bystander stops stabbing outside school.
SAN ANTONIO - A woman is in critical condition after she was stabbed outside her child's school Tuesday morning.

The attack happened around 10:00 a.m. Tuesday outside the Bonham Academy on St. Mary's Street. Teresa Barron, 38, had just dropped off her child at the school when the child's father showed up, and the two got into an argument. The child's father, 38-year-old Roberto Barron allegedly then stabbed the woman several times in the upper body and neck area.

Police say a bystander who happened to be a concealed handgun license holder pulled his weapon and ordered Barron to drop the knife. Barron surrendered and was taken into custody by the bystander and a school district officer.

The woman was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center.

Barron was arrested for aggravated assault, and is in jail on a $150,000 bond.

I was thinking the same thing, or the end of the story to read like this-

"Police responding to the scene saw a man pointing a gun at the assailant and shot the man holding the gun. Upon his release from the hospital, he will be charged with several felonies for carrying a firearm near a school. The original assailant will be released on bail to run across the border and escape justice"

Back in the days I was in the military I ran with my LBE and rucksack. Guys in the military do that.

We are seeing way to many over reactions by police. I'm very surprised the DA did not say let him go.

This was NOT brandishing. It was proper use of a firearm. I was taught the saying " Never carry a gun if you are not willing to pull it, never pull it if you are not willing to shoot it & NEVER shoot it unless you're willing to KILL" former USAF Policeman, former competitive shooter , club safety officer & assistant firearms instructor

Stepping in to save someones life is not a crime.
There was deadly force being used against the woman, pulling a weapon to stop a murder is what a good citizen would do.
In most states this act would be legal.

If you take the proximity to a school out of the picture, what this bystander did with his firearm was completely legal and the right thing to do (except in Illinois!). The school issue though could in fact mean very real trouble for him. Not sure about TX laws exactly, but Federal laws also apply. His exact circumstances of how he came to be there with his CCW could save or sink him. Would be interested in seeing how this all turns out.

Location of bystander.

The news article states nothing about where exactly the attack takes place. The article only says it happened outside the school. I pretty much consider the outside of a school any location where you can see the school not necessarily on the school grounds. If this happened either on the edge of the school grounds or where the school was still in site the bystander could have been a mile from the actual school. There are a lot of ifs in this situation.
