Arlington, MA police illegally confisacte mans' rifle & license over son's drawing

Pansy ass principal said he felt threatened by father of boy who whipped out his carry permit and mentioned he had access to firearms. While the whole situation is BS to me I think he should have just kept his mouth shut about the guns and permit. Chastise the POS principal, call him an effing libtard ***** and tell him he will not punish your kid and leave it at that.

Cops Seize Dad’s Firearms License and Hunting Rifle After Spat With School Principal Over Son’s ‘Despicable Me’ Drawing

Robert Goodwin, 41, was engaged in a heated disagreement with the principal of his son’s elementary school last week over a picture his son drew in art class.

His 10-year-old’s drawing of “Gru” from the children’s movie “Despicable Me” depicted the character “shooting ping-pong balls at his minions,” Goodwin told the Boston Herald. School officials reportedly deemed the drawing as sexual in nature.

So the Arlington, Massachusetts, dad apparently thought an additional visual aid would help.

According to WBZ-TV, the school said Goodwin became agitated, removed his gun license from his wallet, and showed it to Stratton Elementary School principal Michael Hanna.

“During that discussion I compared my legally owned license to carry firearms with the picture that my son drew,” Goodwin told WBZ.

Goodwin also indicated he had access to firearms at home, Arlington police Chief Frederick Ryan told the Herald — all of which reportedly left the principal feeling threatened, a charge the father denies.

“I did not threaten [Hanna’s] life in any way,” Goodwin told the Herald regarding the Wednesday incident.

Police ordered Goodwin to stay away from the campus for the rest of the school year, save for dropping off and picking up his son, the Herald reported. According to WBZ, police also showed up at Goodwin’s residence, revoked his firearms license and removed his hunting rifle — though he hasn’t been charged with any crime.

After the incident, Arlington Public Schools Superintendent Kathleen Bodie sent a letter to parents that read: “This argument certainly went above and beyond the scope of a normal disagreement, and therefore the policies and procedures that Arlington Public Schools have in place were immediately activated to make sure that students, faculty, and staff remained safe.”

Goodwin said the school is treating him unfairly and that he’s no threat or danger to anyone.

“I’m sad because I think we have to transfer out of the school,” Goodwin told WBZ, noting he feels badly for his 10-year-old boy. “He’s going to be bummed he doesn’t get to hang out with all of his friends.”

WBZ noted that Goodwin, who said he’s a rapper, can be seen in at least one rap video on YouTube wielding knives.

UPDATE, 1 p.m.: TheBlaze on Monday contacted Superintendent Bodie’s office and was told she’s scheduled to address concerns from parents at Stratton Elementary School starting at 1:30 p.m. Monday. In addition her office noted that Bodie will issue a statement at 5 p.m Monday on the matter.

A call to Principal Hanna wasn’t immediately returned Monday, but according to Bodie’s letter to parents, Hanna is joining her Monday to answer parents’ questions.

TheBlaze attempted to contact Goodwin on Monday and will update this story after speaking with him.

WCVB-TV in Boston reports that police seized the firearm from Goodwin’s apartment on Friday morning and that Goodwin had his son removed from school on Friday as well. The station added that police were standing guard at the school Friday.

Goodwin’s YouTube rap videos appear to fall under the moniker ContextFlexed, also apparently the name of his blog, in which he goes by “Flipside.” Here’s his blog bio: “Flipside is a rap musician and political activist from Boston, MA, former publisher of Haters’ Magazine and opinionist under the name Schlomotion, Maturin20, Contextflexed, and Flipside.”

In Goodwin’s most recent blog entry, he calls conservative activist Pam Geller a “c**t” and savagely criticizes conservative authors David Horowitz and Robert Spencer.

Goodwin’s YouTube bio under his “writings” note a book he’s written called “Why I’m Better.” The book description:

Boston rap emcee and political activist Flipside gives a discourse on current events, revolution, social outlook, music, and generally how to be better at everything. The book is an example of thought as weapon and word as action.

Goodwin has uploaded numerous rap videos on his YouTube page, but the one clip noted in multiple media reports, “2foxalypse Now,” depicts him holding and swinging a pair of knives. (Content warning: Rough language ahead):

WCVB reported that no knives were seized from Goodwin’s residence, citing police.

In many states it is permissible to home school your kids. We did it for all 12 years. What did we get for our trouble...a kid that is 4.0 in college, has plenty of friends, is very politically active...at 18 she has already been to 2 Virginia political conventions, voting in both. at 18 she works the polling stations. She has sat down with the likes of Alan Keyes and had breakfast with him along with Shak Hill a former US Senate candidate in Virginia. The list could go on and on and on. What did we sacrifice for our trouble...let me see...no BMW in the garage...no BENZ in the driveway...no 5 bedroom 6000 sqft home...no vacation beach house in Hatteras...no balmy 3 week vacations in the Keys or South Pacific...oh God how we suffered. Oh yes...my wife and I could very easily have commanded 6 figure salaries with gubmint jobs...we chose our daughter over us. IF things are your treasures don't take your kids out of the public schools. If you enjoy being at the mercy of public school employees by all means leave them there. Don't tell me it cannot be done by you. Ask yourself what you are will to sacrifice for your kids. If nothing then continue along the same meaningless path you are already on. If your kids mean more to you than some jackass public school administrator that will get more of your taxes in bonuses and salary increases every stinkin year then take them out of the school this next school year. You will be amazed at how large and diverse the home school networks are in your state and community. Your reward will not be material but you will see you kids thrive.

Why in the world would a person tell another that they have access to firearms, if not to threaten or at least intimidate them? I'm not sure we're getting the whole story here, but if a few guys make stupid choices like threatening others with guns, I don't blame the people who felt threatened when those guns get taken away.

I'm in 100% agreement with you - will add that the phenomenon of "Pansy Ass Principals" as you elude, is a result of a 'spiritual thing,' a "Jezebel Spirit" [1 Kings 16] witch-crafting itself over men - don't misinterpret me, I'm not a "religious person," per se, just somewhat well-read and willing to see things as they are. We can meet and debate, agree, and drink over politics for a long time but until the "spiritual aspect" is allowed to be fair game for discussion, we'll always spin wheels.

It's ok to be a religious person. I believe in the holy trinity, Jesus Christ as my savior, his immaculate conception and birth to a virgin and his resurrection, the rapture and the coming great tribulation period. I just think many in the teaching profession are too quick to jump on the anti-gun bandwagon without even knowing the real reason why they are. Most likely media has a major influence. I don't think I would want this guy as my child's principal if he can't stand up to pressure or being bullied. He coward and lost control of a situation that he should have been in control of in the first place. I don't know about him having a spiritual moment as you suggest as that would usually come when a gun is actually pointed at you and you chant the lord's prayer. We may not ever know the complete story but from what has been reported I think he is just another paranoid media programmed far left sissy.

This guy is a friggin idiot, and doesn`t know when to keep his mouth shut. But at the same time the principal is a douchebag with out a doubt.

An odd story with a mix of typical stituations-maniipulation by the school administration and a very strange Mr. Goodwin, or should I say Rapper Goodwin?
However, the feeling threatened card is played on a corporate level quite often. I retired from the telecom industry [one of the 'big three' wireless companies] after 36 years and can tell you that the feeling threatened card is used quite often in the corporate world by women seeking either career advancement or career salvage where qualifications just don't exist. Naturally, she chooses a man, usually white, to set up and exploit, usually successfully. It's one of many tricks used to squelch speech while suppressing truth for lucrative gain.

That's as far as I had to read. What a moron. I don't care what happens to him.

Edit... re-reading, I'm starting to think the "moron" you're talking about is the father. It's a bit unclear... on my first read I was thinking you meant the principal.

I think a big part of being pro 2a should be standing against idiot gun owners that jack things up for responsible ones. I was totally on the side of the boy and his parent until the father threatened the principal... But now, yeah... he's a moron.

Jim, we had a similar life raising our kids in remote cold "God's Country" in Wisconsin, roughly between 1985 through 1995. Wisconsin was a grass roots for home schooling and, because of good organization and networking early on, the State scrambled to catch up in order to nullify what we were doing; end result, our kids far-surpassed public school kids in education quality, entering college early, scholarships and all - we were blessed. Thank God for the slothful incompetence of State and Federal bureaucracies by which we successfully raised our kids the 'right way' before they [the State] had a chance to tear down.
Oh yes...my wife and I could very easily have commanded 6 figure salaries with gubmint jobs...we chose our daughter over us.
