Arizona non-resident permit

I am a resident of Washington State and I can find several sources for taking a class for a Utah permit but looking at the Map for reciprocity it appears that an Arizona non-resident permit would be a better choice and cover more States.

Has anyone from Washington ever obtained an Arizona permit? If so where did you take the class? I was able to find an online course but in the fine print it says that you will still need to complete the Pre requisite firearm safety course to be eligible to receive the permit.

Thanks!

Do you have a Washington State permit? If so, include a copy of that permit and you will be all set as Arizona will accept it instead of the class.

Yes, I have been licensed to carry in Washington for about 15 years. I did a road trip last year through several Western States and was disappointed with how few of them recognized my permit. I have been looking for my best options out there and I think I pretty much need the non-resident Arizona as well as the Oregon in order to get the best coverage possible.

I appreciate the info about Arizona's permit application.

Only if the permit from WA has a training requirement. I don't see where it does, so AZ won't accept the permit in lieu of training requirement.

I too am a WA resident (port angeles). I used this online site to get my training certificate for AZ. Worked just fine, no problems.

Another option I used for UT - if you are ever anywhere near when he is teaching - is :

I live in CA and have applied for out-of-state concealed carry of FL, UT and NV. AZ is covered by these. Two of my kids live in AZ and tend to spend more time down there. Is there any value of getting an AZ out-of-state permit (besides the reason that more is better for politician's sake)?

With an AZ permit you're good in NV. The NV permit costs noticeably more, and I think there are more hoops to jump through to get it.

The AZ permit is the only one that will cover you passing thru AZ school zones.

So they have reciprocity except when in school zones.. It sounds just idiotic enough to be true.

The Federal Gun Free School Zone Act only provides exception only to those who hold a permit issued by the state or locality in which the school is located. Reciprocity agreements don't hold any water in this matter. But holding a permit from the state you're visiting would seem to. Drat, there's a loophole that needs to be closed!:sarcastic:

I used my NRA Basic Pistol Class certificate. My application was approved and had my permit in hand in 18 days from mailing.
You don't need CCW to carry in AZ, but the AZ permit is accepted in many other states. Great if you travel.

That on line Arizona class, would it satisfy the IDAHO training requirement?

2. Proof of training – You must demonstrate familiarity with the firearm. Usually, one of the following courses is required:
a. A hunter education or hunter safety course approved by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game or a similar agency of another state;
b. A National Rifle Association firearms safety or training course or any National Rifle Association hunter education course;
c. A firearms safety or training course or class offered by a law enforcement agency, community college, college, university, or private or public school or firearms training school. You may wish to utilize instructors certified by the National Rifle Association or the Idaho State Police;
d. A law enforcement firearms safety or training course or class offered for security guards, investigators, special deputies, law enforcement agencies or security enforcement agencies.

A county sheriff may grant you a permit without completing one of the courses if:
a. You present evidence of equivalent experience with a firearm through your participation in an organized shooting competition or military service; or
b. You are licensed or have been licensed to carry a firearm in Idaho or an Idaho county or city, unless the license has been revoked for cause.

Virginia offers a non-resident permit also. You can earn your concealed carry certification online in 1 hour - Good for carry in these 28 states -

Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming
