Are Glocks too wide to carry IWB?

I haven't bought a bunch of holsters...yet, but it seems like my G26 is awfully wide to be concealed IWB. I have RA and the small 9mms really hurt my hands. Maybe I should be thinking 1911? Help me. Dave

I carry a G26 all day everyday and do not even realize i have it on most of the time..... I have a KHolster holster and love it !!!

Hmm... I think it's a personal thing. I've carried a G19 in a Kramer IWB, but I didn't particularly like it. I much preferred a 1911. At least the very smallest Glocks have a bevel on the front end. I suppose that helps a bit.

I know Glock has made some single stack guns. In fact, if I wasn't a dedicated 1911 fan, I'd consider a G36 (I am a .45 ACP fan). But, so far, I don't think Glock has tried to make a really slim and comfortable concealed carry piece. Maybe they should check the sales figures from Kimber's Solo and a few of Ruger's smaller pistols. I think Glock could make a great IWB concealment piece if they so chose. Imagine if they decided to one-up the beautiful Browning Hi-Power with its slender slide and only moderately wide grip.

For me, the Glock is just too "blocky." I'd relegate it to OWB carry or fanny pack if that's your thing. I've briefly worn a Glock in a horizontal shoulder rig, but that's not my favorite way to carry, and I didn't much enjoy it. Still, we're all different. Maybe my body has "worn in" after all those years with the 1911, so it fits me. I'm all for trying out a gun and method of carry, if possible, before spending the big bucks on it.

Maybe someday... If Kimber can apply themselves to making a nice concealment piece like the Solo (which reminds me of the 1903 Colt), then so can Glock.

Until then, good luck.

I'm confused. How does it hurt your hands? How was it too blocky? How are they need to wide to carry? I've never heard the statements. I'm just curious of how many people think the same thing?

Glocks are too thick to carry IWB? Jeepers, do I have to uncarry the last 6 years of carrying my G19 and G26 IWB? Please tell me it isn't so!

SuperTuck, Milt Sparks VersaMax-II are what I carry the Glocks in. The VM-II at 3:00 under a sweatshirt hides the G19 easily. The G26 at 4:30 to 5:00 in a SuperTuck can be carried most of the summer with a T-shirt tucked in and a straight cut shirt unbottoned and untucked. The key is to have a holster that spreads the pressure and to have the retention straps in frint of and behind the gun, not next to it increasing the thickness. IWB holsters that just barely fit the gun, like the Summer Spedial II (which workes great for my Walther PPK/S) don't work as well with the Glock.

I have an LCP and P238 for when the clothes won't hide the Glock, and I'm actively looking for a micro-9 that might hide better in the summer for carry in place of the LCP, but 8 to 10 months of the year I can carry the Glocks just fine.

I would love to have Glock develop a dedicated thin as possible single stack 9mm (6 round magazine) with their trigger and reliability. It would fly off the shelves. It wouldn't replace the G26, but would be an easier to conceal option for warm to hot weather. The rest of the year, G19 and 26 are just fine.

Meanwhile, I can hardly wait to get a look at the new SIG P938.

"Maybe I should be thinking 1911?" You go with that, never fail with a 1911 platform especially with all the choices out there. I would reccomend Springfield Armory, wide selection of models and great prices!

I carry my Glock 27 IWB with no real problems.
Just needs a good holster imho.
However,
I would absolutely LOVE IT if Glock would come out with a slightly narrower single stack version for the Baby Glocks.
Now THAT would be cool (except for the 'fewer rounds' thing).

No as others have stated. It's not to wide. You have to have the right holster and make she the pants have the extra room to fit the gun and holster. You can and will ruin a good pair of pants if you try to squeeze in and it's to tight. I carried a G27 for quite a while without any problem. I have since sold the two Glocks that I owned and carry a Sig P239 in 40 cal now.

G19 in a CT SuperTuck works great for me. I have no hips to hang my belt on so I also use suspenders. A vest or over shirt covers well enough.

I carry a full size M&P, the grip isn't as thick, but pretty much the same. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to carry one, I'm 5'7 260.

I carry a full size Glock 22 IWB and in a shoulder holster with no problems. Talk about a giant gun! But Im not complaining.

Yes slimmer the gun it's gonna be more comfortable. But take an average.. the Glock will only be ~1/4 thicker than another gun the same caliber

I always think how nice and thin a Glock 17 is, especially compared to an HK USP .40 compact which could never be called slim!

i carry a G23 in crossbreed super tuck. i can carry it all day while doing anything from yard work to home repairs to a bicycle ride with my daughter.
