I try to CC mine, but I think they are just to big to CC,I usually ware 3x shirts when i'm trying to conceal them. I, look in the mirror i can tell,so that lead me to believe that others can tell i'm cc'ing too.::smile:

Are 1911 A1 45's full size to big to carry concealed? Not necessarily. I carry a Glock 20 concealed when hiking, which has quite similar dimensions.

I don't use shirts of bigger size, instead, I use shirts made out of heavier material with some pattern. A good holster and belt are also quite helpful in keeping the gun close to your body. The holster position is also important. The printing issue is typically caused by the grip sticking away from the body. Position the holster in a way that the grip stays close with the body as well.

Minimal printing is OK, unless you live in a state with stupid printing laws. No one will notice. If someone other than a LEO asks what that bulge is, tell them its medical equipment.

Thanks bofh,I see your point about a Glock being similar in size. I have a M&P 40 Shield I rotate in EDC,of three pistols. I think it's got enough stopping power if I need it. The shirts is something i will look into. I don't really know if KY.,have print laws, guess i better look into that too. Again thanks!

Open carry without a license is legal in KY, so there shouldn't be any issue with printing. Printing used to be an issue in states that do not allow open carry.

Depends on body type.
My buddy is 6' 7" and could CC a Desert Eagle .50 cal.
On the other hand, me carrying a full-size 1911 might be a little much (regardless of open or c/c)...

I easily conceal a full size 1911 45 acp close to the body in a belt slide holster under a t-shirt.

Before I had to sell it, I regularly carried a 5" Norinco M1911. It's just a matter of the proper holster and clothing.

I can conceal my 1911 .45 acp but it's a SA Champion which is a 4.25 barrel so if it where 5" it would still be concealable.

We carry them all the time here in the great SW deserts....depends on what you wear to cover them with. Simple.

I carry 1911 38 Super thru out the year in Humid S. Florida, or a Browning Hi Power depends on my mood. lol

No handgun is to big to CC and I would include SBRs in that; you just have to dress around the gun.
