Applying for permit before moving

My wife and I are looking to apply for our concealed carry permits. The only issue is that in our state, it can take up to 3 months to receive your permit. Because of my job, we could be moving out of state as early as March. I would hate to apply for my permit in our current state only to have to go through the process again in the next state. What should I do?

Depends on the states. My state requires that you be a residence of the state for 30 days before you even apply for a carry permit.

I agree with with the above. It depends on what states we are talking about. Does the state you are moving to accept your current state's CCW? Does your state and the one you are moving to accept non-resident permits? (Most states do not accept non-resident permits for their residents).j

How much money are we talking about?

I would establish residency in your new state, and then apply, assuming, of

course that they are a "shall-issue" state.

We can "assume" a lot, but we can't be of much help without knowing the states you are moving from and to.

If your new state honors your current state's permit, why not go ahead and apply and have the permits forwarded to you by the PO?

The problem is that we actually don't know that. The OP hasn't told us yet the states he is moving from and to. Also, reciprocity laws are sometimes written that you can not carry in your home state with an out-of-state permit.
