?Apparently us Gun Owners are no better than Bin Laden or the Nazi's?

"Let's remember: there was considerable opposition when Lyndon Johnson went to the Congress and...presented some of the most comprehensive civil rights legislation in the history of this country. Most people told him he couldn't get it done, but he figured out a way to do it. And that's what Barack Obama is going to have to do...what happened in Newtown was probably the worst day in this country's history since 9/11. We found Usama bin Laden. We tracked him down. We changed the way that we dealt with that problem. Surely, finding Usama bin Laden; surely, passing civil rights legislation, as Lyndon Johnson was able to do; and before that, surely, defeating the Nazis, was a much more formidable task than taking on the gun lobby".

There's no comparison to what Johnson did. Johnson wasn't attempting to circumvent the US Constitution. Comparing this to taking on the Nazi's, really. The gun lobby is made up of US citizens that believe in the Constitution of the United States.

Am I a criminal simply for owning firearms? Am I an evil being for owning a few of those "evil, black rifles"?

Ted Kennedy killed more people with his car that I have with my guns.

I agree with fuhr52
The Civil Rights legislation was not a change in the Bill of Rights, it was a confirmation that those rights included every citizen. Apparently it had to be said again and in more clear language to make sure it was understood, but that is what it was.

In the past few weeks I have been told I deserve to be shot with my guns, that I should be run off the highway and set on fire, that I am morally complicit in the murder of babies, that I am dangerous and selfish, psychotic and my mental health is in question, toxic to society, that my compassion for the Sandy Hook children and their families is bullfeces and not to be believed, that I seem angry and that is frightening because I have guns!!! That it would be nice, problem solved if there was an explosion at an NRA meeting (lots of LOLs); people online have dropped me as contacts.

I have tried to remain composed, to argue with reason and logic and to supply what facts I can [with links] to support my POV. Nothing I say matters as, they say, they are coming for my guns and they will have them.

The High Road seems to be paved with the violent fantasies of hypocrites. People who seem perfectly willing to eshew the law to force their agenda forward.
