anyone taken any classes at Front Sight

I am thinking about taking a few courses out at the Front Sight firearm school. I am wondering if anyone has taken a class or classes at Front Sight? It sounds and looks like a great experience not to mention fun. I just don't want to commit the time and money if its not what its advertised to be.

any and all information about Front Sight is welcome

I just took a conceal carry class from Legal Heat and the instructor is a member at Front Sight. He said it was well worth the money and would recommend it.

Wife & I are life members there. Wife had shot before but first class gave her confidence & esteem such a huge boost that she was the one that insisted we get the lifetime memberships. We now go in spring & fall when the weather isn't so extreme.
Highly recommended!

Training at Front Sight.
Front Sight is a great place to train. You will start out with the basics Chamber Check, Administrative Loading and Unloading, Grip and Stance, Malfunctions and Reloads, Etc. As your class progresses, so will your proficiency. On day 3, you will be clearing doors and corners, doing a basic entry and clearing in a tactical simulator, along with range drills( 3-15 yards, Heads and Failure to Stop. On day 4, you will be work on your shooting, Multiples, and a Man on Man competition. Then you will shoot a skills test consisting of 25 rounds, malfunctions and reloads.
This is accomplished because the instructors receive more training than most in the industry. They are receive training each class while the students are in lectures , along with training during the summer, while Front Sight is closed to the public.

Last Oct I took the 4 day defensive handgun training. In many different careers I have go to training in an assortment of subjects from firearms to management. I will say that Front Sight presents the most profesional training sessions I ever attended including some major corp stuff costing 5k per seek. There was total respect for the student and his or her time. No bs, war stories, profasnity or boot camp. Always on message. Never heard "Well the book says..., but I do it this way." I learned a lot and am much more confident with my weapons.

If you can afford the travel to Pahrump and the lodging therein, you will unquestionably have a positive experience in your Front Sight class. The only other significant cost is the ammo, which you can buy from a third party co-located at the training facility or from dealers selling from a truck on the side of the highway. The cost of a course certificate or even a lifetime membership is available for less money than you'll spend buying ammo for a single course. There really is no better venue I know of to get top notch training for a bargain basement price. I should refer you to guntrainingcentral.com for a free Front Sight Travel Guide--well worth reading before you go. It's a blast--you'll love it!

I took the 4 day handgun course last March. I stayed in Pahrump, well away from the houses of "ill repute" :) I thought the training was very effective. I was on some heart meds that had several nasty side effects (trembling, weakness, difficulty concentrating - other than that no big deal) lol. In spite of that they were very patient and thorough. There was a LOT to absorb. Since returning home (and fortunately being able to get off the meds) I have done a ton of dry fire draw and fire practice as well as shooting several hundred rounds at the local range. I finally feel like I have mastered the basics taught at the course. I was raised with guns and fishing poles. I have had at least one handgun since I was 22 (40 yrs ago). Nonetheless I felt I learned a ton of new stuff.

One thing that some found irritating was that the instructors want you to "do it their way" for the first 2 days. They feel they have the right way and at least want you to give it a try. After that they are fine with your technique as long as it is safe. I tried it their way and found it very effective. I bought 4 additional classes, 2 each for my wife and I. They have specials now and then that are very reasonable. The additional classes are for the 2 day handgun courses for refresher purposes.

I'm a lifetime member and have trained there extensively (have qualified for the Handgun Combat Master Program). I go once or twice every year. Go...you won't regret it! Have turned many shooters on to FS and haven't heard anything but high praise, to date.

I'm a life member at FS and go there 2 times a year for the handgun class. I enjoy the training and I get better every time I go. I'm going the 1st weekend of November. Let me know if you want a membership. I have a few left and a lot less than a regular class.

That's a good point. Any "newbie" going to FS should NOT pay the retail course prices listed on the website. They run many promotions and a lot of people have coupons for sale so that, with a little work, you can attend a course for a fraction of the listed price.
