Came across some new loads from Doubletap and one is a 450 SMC which is an enhanced 45 super and is stated "This is similar to 45 Super, but with a stronger case. It can be fired in any fully supported 45ACP with only the addition of a stronger recoil spring (20-22lb preferred). I am curious to know of anyone that has used this load out of their 45 ACP and what mods if any did you do.

I may try to convince a buddy to try it who has a ratty series 70 Colt that needs some new springs anyway..........His name is Mikey by the way

I was interested in the .45 Super for a while. I usually carry a Para Carry 12 which is a 1911 style double stack .45 with a double action trigger. Really like it for carry, but I live where there are things that a little more penetration wouldn't be a bad thing. Started looking into the .45 Super and found that most manufacturers will not warranty their firearms if you shoot it. Called and emailed Para ordinance about it, and they said DO NOT SHOOT .45 SUPER THROUGH ANY OF THEIR GUNS. The Carry 12 has a fully supported ramped bull barrel so it's not a worry about a thin chamber or an unsupported feed ramp. I would suggest checking it out before you shot much of it. I would guess you should shoot some before you had a problem, but who knows. Do change the recoil spring first.

Yeah I don't plan on shooting any until I hear from Springfield and I know what they will say---the same thing Para told you. I would like to hear from anyone who threw caution to the wind and sent some of these smc rounds thru their 45 with a stiffer spring.
